The Diamond Navy 2003-2016 is a limited release from Guyana, aged for 12 years and bottled at 57.2% ABV. It has a pleasant nose with tropical papaya and sour-sweet dried and sulfured blackberries. On the palate it has strong spicy notes with a hint of quince and blackberry, as well as almond. The finish is woody-spicy with a touch of almond and grass. It is an enjoyable easy sipping rum that falls in the lower middle range of releases from Transcontinental Rum Line.

Mit der Transcontinental-Linie werde ich nicht wirklich warm - auch diese Abfüllung reiht sich nahtlos in mein Bild der Serie ein: Gängige Jahrgänge bekannter Destillen und Marques, aber durch die Bank spielt der abgefüllte Rum bestenfalls in der zweiten Liga. Leider auch hier dasselbe Spiel - für Diamonds aus 2003 gibt es mittlerweile eine stattliche Auswahl, die vorliegende Abfüllung findet sich bestenfalls im unteren Mittelfeld der mir bekannten Releases wieder. Eher enttäuschend.

Habe hier den TCRL Diamond Navy, 2003-2016, 57,18%, mit mit 238 Flaschen. Oh ich mag diese Nase. Fruchtig süß und frisch zunächst. Tropische Papaya und säuerlich-süße, getrocknete und geschwefelte Johannisbeere. Da bin ich auch gleich beim angenehm süß-holzig-ledrigem mit einer feinen Rauchnote. Auch typisch, am Gaumen weicht die süße Fruchtnote den kräftigen Würznoten. Holzig, bitter, aber dann kommt eine säuerliche Fruchtnote, vielleicht von Quitte mit schwarzer Johannisbeere. Auch etwas Mandel ist da. Im Abgang bleibt der holzig-würzige Eindruck mit einem Hauch Mandel, am Ende etwas Gras
