Trinidad #37
Top review from lukasdrinkinghabits:
"I had high hopes for this rum and they were not disappointed. It's the full mint-menthol charge, with a nice helping of Indian chai with candied ginger, plus bitter citrus and some green peppers. Classy! In the mouth, similar profile of mint, tea and a salty-vegetable note - not the highest complexity, but nice balance of dirt and easy-sipping. 17 years of tropical aging and wood and alcohol super integrated.Finish like an anise Fisherman's Friend 🤪🤤🤩Found it so good, had to empty the whole sample right away.Tasted again together with the RA 2001: The RA is dominated by dirt and gasoline, the TCRL by citrus, green peppers and caramel, which stands out clearly just in contrast. I like the profile of the TCRL more. Thanks, Frederic!Edit:In crosstasting, I tried the RA, TCRL, Nobilis, Plantation Antipodes and the new Rasta Morris. The rums are incredibly similar - esp the Nobilis and RM are barely distinguishable. The RA stands out because of the dilution, the Plantation is clearly marked by the cognac barrel - it moves it closer to the 2003s - and the TCRL is the freshest, with an unusual herbal note. It was somewhat reminiscent of the 2002s including the falernum note. The TRCL stands out. It is much brighter than the other 2001s and brings that awesome herbal note. In the mouth it opens up with an acidity that is fresher than beilden others. The alcohol integration is top notch. Tonight it is the best of the 5.Points 2There will be individual or paired sessions again because I always find such large crosstastings difficult and the specific notes are eaten by the similarities ."

"31.07.2021 A nice tasting held by a bygone spirits shop. Notes Light in colour. Nose Intense, wood, varnish, vanilla, light herbs, anise, pineapple, plum. Palate Intense, wood, ginger, banana, light smoke, light earthy, faint chocolate, light coffee, prunes. Finish Medium to long, wood, prunes, tobacco, faint chocolate, faint tar, ginger. Extra note. Needs to rest for a good while or it's very intense and many flavours will be missing."

"Tasting-Abend bei Dr. Django (Jamaica): Diese Sonderabfüllung macht richtig Spaß. Gegenüber der normalen Version entwickelt diese Abfüllung mehr buttrige Fruchtsäure und weniger Würze und Holz, was der Aromenvielfalt einen Gewinn bringt. Daher geht sie als deutlicher Sieger hervor"

"Dried fruit, spices, cocoa. Alcohol well integrated, round and balanced. In the mouth it strikes the same note. At the end of the day, nothing new under the sun and a bit too pleasing. Good heavy sipper, nothing more."

Top review from mto75:
"On the nose initially quite alcoholic, but then come the typical markers of continental mature PMs such as olive, anise, mirabelle and vanilla, and this certain 'funkiness' as already noted in the Romdeluxe PM 2005. On the palate, oak, nutmeg and a quite pleasant bitter note. The alcohol could be a bit better integrated (which also leads to a slightly sharp finish). Otherwise, the TCRL hits it for me but already quite well."

"This was yet another sample I took to the party and it also did pretty well. I'd say that price matches the quality pretty well. This rum needs to rest for at while or the ABV will bite you both on the nose and palate. The nose is fresh and has light smoked wood, apple and anise to it.if you don't rest it the ABV will bite. The palate is well balanced between smoky wood and fruits with spices and medicinal notes trailing. Again the ABV will bite if you don't rest it. The finish is long, fresh and round with light wood and fruit to it."

Top review from Jakob:
"A bit rough still with the alcohol, otherwise reasonably inconspicuous. Caramel, vanilla, wood, some coffee and dark chocolate, plus spices - but not much more. Nice, nothing more. The fact remains: I'm not really warming up to the Transcontinental line."

Top review from Righrum:
"Low esters Hampden, well matured tropical fruit is dominating the nose and the palate. I'd expect it to be an OWH or LFCH mark. This doesn't seem at all having continental ageing except for the light taste. Again alcohol is not that good in terms of integration"

"I do not really warm up to the Transcontinental line - this bottling also fits seamlessly into my picture of the series: Common vintages of well-known distilleries and Marques, but through the bank the bottled rum plays at best in the second league. Unfortunately, the same game here - for Diamonds from 2003 there is now a handsome selection, the present bottling finds itself at best in the lower midfield of the releases known to me. Rather disappointing."

Top review from Felix Reiber:

"Actually always impressed so far with the cask choices of independent bottles with beenleigh. Super dry and top profile. Fruit and buttery doughy profiles that are well integrated with wood notes of a bourbon cask"

Top review from Zucker und Zeste:
"What a great blend. The Casimir sets both in the nose and in the mouth clearly in the scene, but the Jamaica plays in the background nicely with. Goes pure very well but also as a mix ingredient in the drink, but then with this very own, but beautiful, vegetal-fruity flavor. For the price a blast!"

Top review from cigares :
"A nose marked by controlled esters, with ripe banana and pineapple. Pleasant on the palate, the alcohol is well integrated and the fruit is well present with cedar wood. The finish is a little short on fruit and cedar. A very pleasant rum for the price."

Top review from Casper Nielsen:
"Lækker duft. Kunne dufte til den i timevis. Dejlig smag på front palate. Lys karamel, nærmest fransk nougat (måske den sødeste og mildeste Foursquare, jeg har smagt - taget % i betragtning). Men middelmådig på mid palate og meget anonym i eftersmagen. Kort til mellemlang eftersmag, som antyder brændt hvidt sukker."

Top review from w00tAN:
"Sweet nose but with a somewhat artificial alcohol note. Appley and sweet on the palate. A little watery and for me not as cardboardy sweet as usual with Panama. Interesting but nothing outstanding."

"This one really blends everything in to be an extremely bland and boring species of Panama. There is much to not really get exiting, but this seems to actively try to be uninteresting. seriously, who needs this? There are cheaper options in better..."

Top review from Boletus:
"Ein einfach gestrickter, gut trinkbarer und mit ansprechender Würze und brauchbarem Eichenbeitrag ausgestatteter, junger Agricole. Durch die Verdünnung etwas hinter seinen Möglichkeiten, aber frei von unangenehmen Fehlnoten. Der Abgang ist zwar leider zu kurz geraten, aber mit einiger Verspätung tritt dann doch noch mal Zuckerrohr mit gelbfruchtigen Anklängen aus den Wangen, was mir gut gefällt."

Top review from Artur Schönhütte:
"Pretty much exactly what i expect from these upper standard panama rums. Transcontinental choose a nicer version of a rum that does not excite me in any shape or form. I dont want this and dont need this, but i dod not hate it."

Top review from jonathan.p🇫🇷:
"Nez sympa, mais en bouche c est plutôt moins bien! En bouche pâtisseries et peu de fruits et surtout un goût légèrement fumé. La fin est courte et sur les épices et pâtisseries. Bon franchement, pour moi, c est pas un grand rhum, mais ça se sirote."
