This rum from the Esperance Distillery in Guadeloupe is an unreduced brut de fût rum. It’s made from Red Cane, R579, from plot No 1. After the distillation in their Creole column, it’s aged for 4 years in new French oak barrels whereafter it’s bottled in 2000 bottles. The nose is spicy, fruity, woody and vegetal with scents of citrus, orange and chocolate and plums. At the palate it’s intense, woody, fruity and a little oily with flavors of citrus, orange, apple, peaches and grape. The finish is rather long, fruity and tannic with flavors of pears, peaches and plums.
