Gehört definitiv in meine Spitzengruppe."

"A wonderfully deep red gold. Hammer nose!!! Polish, dried fruit, tar and beef jerky. Very fine and complex. Reminiscent of a TECA and also has something of a Caroni. In the mouth then tropical fruits and now woody and spicy. Again very complex and fine. The 43% is quite OK, with a few % more it would be one of my absolute favorites. A really great rum and very different from today's Appletons."

"One of the epic rum mixers, that was used by Victor Bergeron when he created Mai Tai back in 1944. The nose is mostly fruity and spicy. At the palate the fruitiness dominates with flavors of citrus, banana and pineapple. The finish has a certain sweetness and a long spiciness."

"First Jamaican rum that I could taste. I find it good and very accessible considering its price. In spite of its 40%, I find the alcohol a bit too pronounced and I also regret the semi-opaque bottle. But it's a good start to discover Jamaican rums, with flavors, like coffee, chocolate, tobacco...I find the nose better than the mouth. The history of a rum is just as interesting as its aromatic palette, sometimes more. In the history of Blackwell, there is Bob Marley, James Bond, and Joy Spence the Master Blender of the Appleton Estate brand. It is interesting to note that by buying Blackwell rum a portion is donated to the Golden Eye Foundation in Oracabessa which acts in favor of the population and biodiversity of the bay. Nice anyway"

"07.2024 First impression: weak-breasted Jamaican Nose: a little banana, faint hint of esters, otherwise thin Palate: first alcoholic, then less impressive standards such as wood/roast and vanilla aromas Finish: medium-long, masked by alcoholic spiciness Overall impression: too simple to sip neat, lacking character even in mixers, no off-flavors but nothing that I would remember either Conclusion: unfortunately dispensable 2020?"
