Top review from Robert Bauer:
"Nose If Diamond 1988 was Mozarts Requiem, this fellow is Bachs Mass in B-Minor! Hence deeper, more transcendental and complex. The driest plums from Bavaria. Raisins from Turkey. The finest tobacco from Vuelta Abajo. The sweetest Medjoul dates from Jordan. Burned insense straight from the Vatican. New Santoni leather boots. Damp earth in a jungle. Molasses and Art Deco furniture. But also mouthwatering scents of grilled lamb with mint in a morocan restaurant. Beneath all this wild stew, a subtle hint of lavender and Ylang-Ylang wafts through, lending elegance and finesse to the very oily and heavy notes. The Olympus of a bouquet. Palate Rome is burning ladies and gents! It's a juggernaut that crushes everything that came before it. By that we don't mean the incredibly well-integrated 72.1%, but the sheer force of flavours sizzling on the tongue. Big time molasses sweetness up front, carried by a fine cocoa bitterness of Bajan chocolate. Tonka beans creme, fleshy notes, morocan mint, cuban tobacco, intense Manuka Honey notes and Umami all over the place. The earthy, manioc root-y and leathery finish resembles the length of the Great Wall of China. Rating Can a rum get any better? The bouquet alone is so brillant and complex that you could easily sit down with a glass and a Charles Dickens book for days, just to smell and be satisfied. Palate-wise, it is comparable to the excellent 1975 Cadenhead's, only with slightly deeper and darker nuances. Anyone who wants a taste of spirits heaven should at least get a sample. La messa è finita. 96/100 Points"

"This is a very good Cadenhead, probably one of the best ones they ever made. I can only recommend it if you can get a bottle, which would mean auction. The nose is wonderful kicking off with glue and some varnish before settling into fruits, nuts and coffee. A bit of wood in there as well. The palate picks up where the nose left off. Intense and complex and a bit oily. Nice curtains in the glass. Fruity with cocoa and coffee. In the back i get licorice, caramel, tea and wood. The finish is forever and fruity with spices the back has wood and burnt sugar."

"This is also an older tasting and at the release the price was very good compared to what you got. This rum is heavy, really heavy and it hits you as soon as you open the bottle. I'm not a certain but I made a note that I thought there was a hint of raisin in there. The nose is heavy on roasted wood with tar, molasses and some nuts. The palate is heavy, very complex and extremely well balanced with lots of roasted, even burnt wood actually, tar, molasses and a hint of mint. The finish goes on forever and has lots of roasted/burnt wood and tar. The note I have is that the colour was beautifully dark, bomb of a nose and heavy curtains in the glass."

"Sitting on my couch enjoying my final sample of this treasure. A wonderfully complex and balanced rum that is kind of a heavy rum. Despite all the years in the cask the oak never takes over and becomes dominant. Nutty with light fruits and wood. There is a hint of nuts and smoke on the palate and finish. There is a hint of caramel and coffee in there as well. A wonderful rum :-)"

"This is a tasting from 10.05.2019 where I went out with a few colleagues for a nice tasting. I have the following notes. Very nice colour with a fresh balanced nose once rested. With a bit of water it opens up a bit more without changing the overall profile."

Top review from Joachim Guger:

"Exemplary for the profile of the great Demeraras from the 70s, only with the downer that the alcohol is clearly less gallantly integrated compared to other outstanding representatives of this unfortunately long-gone era. This results in a slight imbalance, to which probably also the last refinement falls victim - I miss here, for example, even more concise dried fruit notes. Overall, however, the bottling still hits the core of the Demerara longing profile and puts the bulk of today's Guyana bottlings effortlessly in the bag."

"This is a lovely bottle and I'd like to have on or two of them on my shelves, but unfortunately that's not an option. Very fruity with smoky wood and vanilla. The palate is sweet and lightly bitter, yum, I love it. "

"Very prominent Caroni nose. Caroni notes are also very present on the palate. This one feels very smooth and soft (mind you compared to other Caronis at higher ABVs) and enjoyable as long as you fancy Caroni notes. Really not bad, however, the hardcore Caroni enthusiasts may miss some punch out of this bottling"

"A rum that seems a little light on the nose, with tropical fruit, leather and something vegetal. The palate has a nice attack that returns to fruit with a little greenness in the background. A medium finish with a little marzipan. Better on second tasting."

"Kann erwarteterweise nicht mit dem parallel verkosteten HV EMB 2010 (RX227) und schon gar nicht mit den fast durch die Bank ausgezeichneten Clarendons der Jahre 1995 und 1997 mithalten; trotzdem solider Rum, der nicht zuletzt durch seine leichten Pfirsichnoten zu gefallen weiß."

"Great intensity with spice and fruitiness (papaya and tangerine) on the nose. There are also floral associations. A bit biting on the palate with spice, salt and slight bitterness from the wood. With a few drops of water it opens up a bit more and is fun!Good Port Mourant!"
