Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Luckily this was the last rum of the evening or all the other samples would have failed horribly in comparison. A great rum and again one that was hidden in the back of a top shelf at a tiki bar., where they had a rum aficionado. The nose is complex and well balanced with fruits, smoked Wood, vanilla and chocolate. The chocolate and vanilla really come out if you leave the empty glass for a while. The palate takes off where the nose finishes. Complex and well balanced with fruit, smoky wood, vanilla and a hint of coffee/mocha. The finish is incredibly long with wood, cherries, chocolate and vanilla. I know this is a rare bottle, but my oh my, what a great rum."

"Nose If Diamond 1988 was Mozarts Requiem, this fellow is Bachs Mass in B-Minor! Hence deeper, more transcendental and complex. The driest plums from Bavaria. Raisins from Turkey. The finest tobacco from Vuelta Abajo. The sweetest Medjoul dates from Jordan. Burned insense straight from the Vatican. New Santoni leather boots. Damp earth in a jungle. Molasses and Art Deco furniture. But also mouthwatering scents of grilled lamb with mint in a morocan restaurant. Beneath all this wild stew, a subtle hint of lavender and Ylang-Ylang wafts through, lending elegance and finesse to the very oily and heavy notes. The Olympus of a bouquet. Palate Rome is burning ladies and gents! It's a juggernaut that crushes everything that came before it. By that we don't mean the incredibly well-integrated 72.1%, but the sheer force of flavours sizzling on the tongue. Big time molasses sweetness up front, carried by a fine cocoa bitterness of Bajan chocolate. Tonka beans creme, fleshy notes, morocan mint, cuban tobacco, intense Manuka Honey notes and Umami all over the place. The earthy, manioc root-y and leathery finish resembles the length of the Great Wall of China. Rating Can a rum get any better? The bouquet alone is so brillant and complex that you could easily sit down with a glass and a Charles Dickens book for days, just to smell and be satisfied. Palate-wise, it is comparable to the excellent 1975 Cadenhead's, only with slightly deeper and darker nuances. Anyone who wants a taste of spirits heaven should at least get a sample. La messa è finita. 96/100 Points"

Top review from Jakob:
"Very complex without becoming unbalanced at any point. The wood note is particularly impressive, giving the rum a noble depth that borders on the bitter without overpowering the other notes. Heavy, dense consistency. Very nicely integrated alcohol. The only "fly in the ointment": Tasted blind, it doesn't stand out enough in comparison with other Skeldons for me to agree with the perfect score. However, this does not detract from its outstanding quality."

"Benchmark Rockley! ❤️A liquid dream!Compared to the SS, Nobilis and Plantation, it has both the best nose and the best palate. Very nice roundness, alcohol top integrated, some smoke, but overall a honey monster!"

"Tasted together with Chris2302 some time ago. Many thanks to the donor at the time who made this possible for both of us 😀 (a little tip: it was on the 2nd GAF, so it's not difficult to find the donor 😉 ) I thought the smell was bomb. After the first sip, we agreed that this is a drop that will easily break the 9! Anyone who has the opportunity to try it. Do not hesitate! Insane part!!! Drink of the gods!"

"Is often called the King of Hampden - and especially in direct comparison with other representatives of the already extremely exciting 1993 vintage, the outstanding quality becomes more than clear. The balance can only be described as famos - here nothing negative stands out: overripe fruits meet vanilla, caramel sweetness, dark spices and light roasted aromas. Superb!"

"I am incredibly grateful to be able to drink this sample. Thank you @ Saibot Ztar. I was hoping the 94 would drop and it would beat the Nobilis 93. But alas, on both the palate and the nose, it's not enough. 92 is still legendary...but I expected even more. In direct comparison with the TRC30 for me on par."

"Sampling this one right now and I have to admit that it's one of the most well balanced rums I have ever tried when it comes to ABV integration.Very fruity and lovely funk from nose to finish. There is a slight roasting note on the finish that I like a lot.Wonderful rum that is virtually impossible to get.Put my nose in the glass today and the smoke is very strong today :-)"

"Price to quality can be argued but the quality can't. A very fruity, intense and well balanced rum. I like the roasted wood on the profile, nicely balanced without being dominant. ABV is very well integrated."

"#10th dec RumXCalendar Blind tasting: Nose: delicious, pineapple, ester, fruitbasket, glue Mouth: Pineapple, ester, barrel, oak Finish: long, pineapple, barrel, oak, dry, a bit astringent Amazing delicious High Ester Hampden 😍 Funk Extreme! A lot of fruits in the nose, the more time you’ll give it the more fruits you’ll get. Important: This rum needs time to fully open min. 1 hour. I think it’s a hampden… in the high ester section <>H ca.60% approx. 30 Years"

Top review from Oliver:
"Incredibly complex and intense nose - to fall in love! First association was Hampden. Boiled down, tropical fruit, peach and pleasant esters - not too funky. The 38 years in the barrel rounded it out to perfection. Wow, a real explosion on the palate, this is also where the Long Pond character comes out. Perfectly balanced yet complex. Very pleasant bitterness. In the finish, some smoke is added.Outstanding! Absolutely exceptional Jamaican."

"Brine, old cooking fat, nail polish remover, fermented fruit. What doesn't sound very tempting is a finely balanced, highly complex wealth of aromas that make up a high-quality rum. Astringency just tolerable, but too much acidity in the finish for me. Therefore not top of the league for me."

"10.07.2020 A nice tasting meeting new and old friends. This was the final rum and it's a very expensive of its kind. These bottles are not only expensive but extremely rare. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Complex, fresh, light wood, light citrus, faint chocolate, light floral, faint herbs. Palate Velvety, light wood, light roasted, faint nutts, citrus, dried fruit, naturally sweet, faint salt, light herbs. Finish Medium to long, light roasted wood, naturally sweet, light nutts, dried fruit, light chocolate."

"Très sombre. Très beau profil beaucoup plus sombre que son petit frère le 15ans de 2004. Le chocolat et le café sont bien présent en bouche avec un ton de fruits rouges. Un grand neisson mais je lui préfère le 15ans plus solaire et complexe. J’y reviens un an après et c’est toujours une merveille. Et ça a du caractère et de la complexité en bouche."

"Retasting with the RumX guys. -------- This was my favourite of the evening. A lot of lovely oak and oak spices from nose to finish. Dry and kind of sweet at the same time. Wonderful balance between the heavy oak notes, fruits and spices. The sprinkle of chocolate and tobacco makes it a very smooth Agricole."

"This is a great rum and the price to quality is very good in my mind. The nose is fruity with wood, nuts and vanilla with trailing caramel and a nice floral note. The palate has toasted wood and fruit trailed by vanilla, licorice and chocolate. There is also a hint of menthol in there. The chocolate and fruits become very clear in the empty glass. The finish is long and has wood, chocolate and raisin with trailing vanilla."

"The cashew note on the nose bothers me a little (reminds me of Montaguere's Karukera Christian). It fades after a long opening. The palate, on the other hand, has what I like in these great Martiniquais: elegant oak and gourmet nuts, refreshed just right by the spices."

"Nose The Bouquet is a Versace dress in liquid aggregate. Incredibly oplulent, vibrant and yet of undeniable elegance. Feels almost like a perfume called Eau de Demerara, coming straight from the jungle. The scent of the finest, freshly cut woods such as sandalwood and cedar alternates in continuous play with lovely blossoms of ylang-ylang, poppy blossom, lilac and myrrh. The whole weave is carried by sweet mangoes, sticky glue and a light coconut blossom note, which absolutely corresponds to the Diamond profile. Palate La grande bellezza! Sweet, super concentrated and oily, the first sip fills the palate with dried mangos, fried cassava slices, tamarind paste and milk chocolate with coconut filling. But there is also a note of Masala Chai in there, giving it an oriental twist. The sweetness is striking! At no point does the 61.4% abv seem dominant or sharp. The tropical maturation has done a perfect job here! It's clearly a Diamond Coffey Still Rum, yet it somehow tastes more refined and sophisticated than the other Velier Diamonds. ғɪɴɪsʜ Long like the red carpet of Cannes, flanked by the abovementioned fine woods and a whole bunch of citrus peels."

"To date, the most impressive testimony to the quality Foursquare is capable of producing. Aging in former Madeira barrels brings a perfect flavor complement to the usual Foursquare profile and puts the Destino in a different league than the bulk of other Foursquare bottlings. Excellent."

Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"A rum whose vintage is often considered a benchmark in the field, and it's easy to see why. The nose is very full and complex, with a multitude of flavors: exotic fruits, floral notes, aromatic herbs, tobacco, spices (ginger, licorice, anise, chili, vanilla, pepper), smoky wood, nuts, caramel, honey, chocolate and medicinal notes form an aromatic bouquet as special as it is detailed, deep and lively. The palate is very elegant and sophisticated. The rum is lively, rich in spices, aromatic herbs and floral notes that extend to honey. Wood, smoke, leather and chocolate follow the complex, fresh palate. Some medicinal and fruity notes lie in ambush on the tongue. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is long, dark, bitter, medicinal, woody and slightly herbaceous. There are also dried fruits, leather, spices and chocolate. For a profile of Barbados, this is an original, complete and accomplished rum, with remarkable and delicious flavors."

"One can directly recognize the Foursquare DNA. Compared to other bottlings, however, an uncanny complexity and depth awaits, reminiscent of tropically aged Demerara bottlings. On the palate, round, nutty-spicy, intense, multilayered with a great sweetness. Similar to the 2006 just a touch more complex. Best Foursquare so far. A real firework in the mouth - Love it!"

"First impression: Oh yes!!! After the failure with the Raconteur, which I personally didn't like that much, only the Absolutio. The combination of bourbon and port barrel works really well in my opinion. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. Nice and soft and velvety to drink, beautiful dark color and pretty curtains in the glass. At 179€, it's also cheaper than its predecessor. From what I remember of the Velier Foursquare Crosstasting, it stands out from the others and would be at the top of my list. I think this will be my new favorite Foursquare."

"Ich bin ja nicht so der große Barbados-Rumfan, aber dieser Rockley holt mich mal wieder ab. Diese rauchig harzige Honignote mit einem Duft von Akazienholz ist schon sehr besonders und einzigartig. Der geringe ABV fällt hier kaum auf. Hervorragend, wenn nicht der Abgang relativ kurz wäre. Dieses kostet ihm leider ein paar Punkte"

"An extremely tasty number that is dominated above all by the floral tones of rose and Thai flying mango, which then alternate with nutty and chocolaty aromas. Mega exciting, extremely palatable and a complexity like this is very rare with Foursquare. Absolutely outstanding for me! It has become one of my favorite sipping rums. I think this could really be my absolute favorite Foursquare!"

Top review from Jakob:
"The nose is still relatively unspectacular, as far as one can speak of a tropically aged Caroni from the over vintage 1996 - but on the palate then rises a real fireworks. Sweetness, spice, borderline smokiness, wood, rubber and tar...I feel well taken care of all around, precisely because this rum definitely has rough edges and also the high alcohol content does not hide and brings out the Caroni-typical notes almost perfectly. Impressive level."

"Tasted at the WLP in 2023 and a sample from Jakob (thanks!). A classic 1996 nose with lots of depth, the machine shop notes balanced with very expressive fruit. Slightly less pleasant aromas of smoky oak and overripe mango. Wow! A super-expressive palate. Everything is in place and the evolution on the palate is smooth, complex and satisfying. A loooong finish! With woody and slightly smoky notes, discreet until now. A very fine, assertive rum, elegant and harmonious. The woodiness/smokiness is very present when the glass is empty, but all the aromas are equally present."

"Retasting and I still like it a lot. ------- This is also e very expensive bottle and I'd say the price can be argued, but you can't argue the quality of the rum. The nose just hits you right in the face. Fruit and smoky oak hits you first and then comes the molasses and caramel with a whif of leather. The palate is complex yet wonderfully balanced. Roasted wood and oak hit the palate right away closely followed molasses, vanilla and light chocolate. There is an ever so light bitterness to the palate. The finish is long and surprisingly smooth with oak, vanilla and dried fruit."

"Definitely not a straightforward Navy blend. Impressive complexity, much Jamaican influence, the high age is clearly recognizable. Mint, eucalyptus, tropical fruits, wood, spices...impressive! As a lover of complex rums, I feel perfectly picked up here.

"I just love this rum so I have ordered yet another backup bottle. This is a pretty well blended and also well balanced rum from Black Tot. Spicy bit well balanced with the other elements and you barely get a burn from the proof once rested for 15 minutes. The dominant rum in this blend is clearly the one from Guyana. You only get hints of the ones from Jamaica and Barbados. For the price a pretty good rum."

"Nose: the DOK dominates but the character of the rum from Panama is also noticeable. Overall, however, quite restrained. Palate: Panama is clearly more present here and not much of the DOK is noticeable. The alcohol is not optimally integrated. In the finish, the fruitiness of the Hampden comes through again very nicely. Nice interplay between the two rums! A very successful blend. Unfortunately, the alcohol is quite present, otherwise more than 9 points would be possible."

"A rum like 15 year old Mulata that on taste reminds me of Caroni with those strong notes of barrel and tar. Really interesting with very good potential sin the light finish. "This is also an older tasting and at the release the price was very good compared to what you got. This rum is heavy, really heavy and it hits you as soon as you open the bottle. I'm not a certain but I made a note that I thought there was a hint of raisin in there. The nose is heavy on roasted wood with tar, molasses and some nuts. The palate is heavy, very complex and extremely well balanced with lots of roasted, even burnt wood actually, tar, molasses and a hint of mint. The finish goes on forever and has lots of roasted/burnt wood and tar. The note I have is that the colour was beautifully dark, bomb of a nose and heavy curtains in the glass."

"Second tasting: the nose is the hammer, very similar to the '95! On the palate then a dream, incredibly creamy and the alcohol excellently integrated, there is the '95 much sharper (+1). In the nose first resin and cough syrup, very complex! Palate: surprisingly mild, excellent integrated alcohol, strong spicy and again very complex. The medicinal notes are in the foreground. Aftertaste: the rum fades very slowly. The medicinal and grassy notes prevail. The medicinal character dominates the rum and makes it something special, top!"

"Completely different league than all other Montebellos known to me - it should of course also be noted that it is in the comparison field in terms of distillation vintages a difference of more than three decades. What is offered here, however, is simply sensational: In the nose already of breathtaking depth with heavy fruits, fresh cola aroma and floral notes, the bouquet thickens on the palate to an oily texture with chocolaty sweetness, heavy fruitiness, excellent spice and perfectly balanced wood influence. Whatever Carrere (or whoever - the exact origin is still rumored) did differently than today: Play it again, Sam!"

"A great start to the tasting evening! Of course, this is unmistakably a Dominican, but an unusually strong one, without the alcohol being noticeable at all. A few drops of water make it even more accessible, with apricot and barrel notes in balance. Not my preferred style, but certainly drinkable and therefore recommended for special occasions - if you don't have to watch the pennies ... (bottle price now exorbitantly high)"

"Had two tastings this weekend and Très Hombres was the first one. This rum kicks just the right places and I needed a drop of water to release more flavours.

"This is a solera method rum set at 21 years and a very good one. It needs to rest for at least 15 minutes before you give it a go or you'll only get the alcohol. You may also want to add a few drops of water after which the flavours are really set free. The nose is alcoholic after poring but after a while it settles and you get a fruity and vanilla mix with smoke on top. This palate is nice and complex with chocolate/cooa followed by fruit, caramel and butterscotch. Oak and some smoke ends the experience. The finish is extremely long and warm with a fruity and smoky end. "

"This is a great rum from Oliver & Oliver and I have just had it once more. I have tried to leave the glass for the next day and then give it a good whiff only to discover even more notes. A wonderful well balanced rum with spices and oak at its heart. A bit of oak smokiness on the day after in the glass. None the less a very good price to quality. "

"When I first opened this rum, it reminded me of one a Cuba Libre: the lime was very distinct. Meanwhile, I got mostly caramel/honey, raisin, vanilla and sometimes roasty coffee/chocolate/tobacco. Certainly a bit sugary and not overly complex, but otherwise tasty, smooth and round. One of the best of O"

"This is a retasting and I'll leave the old comment and change the points 😊 This is a malt finish og their normal 25 and you definitely get the barrel finish. The nose is sharp in the beginning so leave if for 15 minutes ad you get rewarded with fruits, vanilla and caramel. There is a bit of earthiness about it. The palate is mild and well rounded with a lot of tropical fruits, berries and grapes topped with vanilla and oak. The finish is medium to long with a sweet stickiness followed by fruit, cocoa and caramel."

"As I am a big Liberation fan, it is a must to taste this rum and my expectations are correspondingly high. First let it breathe for a long time, it becomes more complex and fresher. The Liberation markers are clearly recognizable: almond, apricot and peach. Sparkling citrus fruit. Very complex, alcohol perfectly integrated. From memory a little woodier and darker than the regular 2015 Integrale. Outstanding mouthfeel, warm and velvety. 😍 The finish is fine, but relatively short and not particularly powerful. A great rum and another reason for the reputation of the Liberation series. However, I have to say that I like RX880 a touch better, this one is a little simpler and lacks the sunny cheerfulness.😎😎😎😎"

"A very tasty and general Bielle. The nose offers a superb blend of caramel and brown sugar sweetness, spices, cigar notes, varnished wood, leather, toasted notes and white chocolate. It's greedy, expressive and complex, with a beautiful olfactory alchemy. The attack on the palate remains very smooth and round. Spices, leather, roasted notes and woodiness add power, while caramel, nougat and sugarcane, along with dried fruit and apricot, bring refinement to the palate. The profile is well-constructed, localized and remarkably well-integrated with alcohol. The well-crafted finish lets the wine's register linger on the palate, with very soft, subtle flavors that blend wonderfully with the woodiness (which veers towards cedar), spices and light fruit. A Bielle that lives up to its reputation for quality and is a pleasure to drink."

"The 2001 Bielle Single Casks impress with their impressive aromas, which combine heavy dark fruits, floral notes, a balanced wood influence and subtle spicy aromas. The complexity is impressive and the flavor profiles are wonderfully balanced. With their heavy fruitiness and subtle cola notes, the releases are somewhat reminiscent of Damoiseau - this cask #2 stands out once again thanks to the very harmonious overall picture in the already very impressive field of other 2001 single cask releases. An absolutely outstanding release, which surprisingly lived a rather shadowy existence for a long time, but is now receiving the recognition it deserves. Excellent!"

"A great rum! You can feel the initial strength of the alcohol, but the aromas that come after a while are well marked and you don't have to sniff the glass for too long. A firm, old-fashioned rum. On the palate, in addition to a fruity and vegetal component (where olives stand out), this aftertaste of solvents/esters never unpleasant stands out. "Ever since @crazyforgoodbooze got me hooked on Mauritius at the 11th GRF, I've been trying to get to know the country's rums better. With this one, I like the expressive blackcurrant note on the palate. A really pleasant rum, but with an unremarkable nose and a short finish that can't match the Grays from Perola (RX12865) from the same year. Update 2023-07-02: I must have had a bad day at the first tasting, only 82 points just doesn't do the rum justice. Now, at the second tasting, it has a super-long, fruity and woody finish. The impressive red rum now gets a well-deserved 86 points. Pretty good PLV for a single cask and still available, wonderful. Update 2024-03-16: Used as a benchmark rum against two other New Grove single casks and more than lives up to its role. In the meantime I have to say, even better than the 2009 bottling. "It is rare, far too rare, to discover a diamond among pebbles. And if it happens by chance, it's all the more incredible. But it actually happened with this rum! I'm still blown away. The rum already promises a lot on the nose and reminds me of an old Demerara. So tempting that I can't wait to taste it. Very fruity on the palate, overripe blackcurrants? The alcohol is more perfectly integrated than I have ever experienced with any other rum. The maximum has really been extracted from the 47% vol. The only small drawback: a slight lack of depth and intensity due to the low ABV. But such a small "impurity" is easy to get over with such a fine diamond, isn't it? Top rum under the radar. Update 2023-10-06: The rum remains a top product for me, but has found its champion in the Savoir Faire 2009 with 60% (RX2744). Update 2023-10-18: Tasting again against the RX2744, this time direct. And I have to say that a direct comparison is really enlightening - and doesn't end well for the Emotion 1969 ... It seems like the league leader of the 2nd division playing at the top level in its class against a Champions League team ... 🙄 Try it out and you'll find it confirmed. RumX Advent calendar 09.12.2023 (blind tasting) I wrote in the appropriate place before solving the puzzle: Yes, on the nose I'm also more with FS, although what's amazing here is that you really perceive zero alcohol! A completely different rum on the palate: Not warm-caramel like on the nose, but clearly red-fruity and a little spicy. And what do I always associate with red fruit? That's right, Mauritius! Since this rum is not an alcohol monster, but rather under 50% vol. I'm guessing RX2495. Of course, it could also be another New Grove from Grays with around 45% vol. as there are still a few around ... Or maybe even a TDL. In any case, I like the rum very much. :yum::yum::yum:"

"Still restrained on the nose, so that you don't really recognize New Grove, but the rum really gets going on the palate! Heavy fruity and woody at the same time, warm and incredibly complex, a feast for the palate! I really like this rum, it ranks right up there with the New Groves. If the nose wasn't so restrained, it would even be at the top of my list. As the 20Vin stores are only available in Mauritius, my decision is clear: I will return there and look for this rum! 😊 Update 2024-04-29: This really is a particularly good rum. Today I didn't find it at all restrained on the nose, which is why the rum now gets one more point. The incarnation of New Grove, I love these aromas! Update 2024-06-18: Yes, I made it and brought myself the rum from Mauritius, Grays delivery service delivered it free to my door there. 🤗 That's the good news. It is somewhat clouded by the fact that the rum unfortunately loses out to the top New Grove 2009 (RX2744) in the crosstasting: On the palate, it simply has too few watts to keep up with the Croesus; after all, more alcohol transports more flavors. But it is still a top product from Grays, especially for the incredible price of just EUR 50 for an SC. 😍"

"Clearly milder and more drinkable than the 11y old without finish. The additional 20 months in the Armagnac finish have softened the rum perfectly and taken him some of the edges. The 11y is clearly more funky and intense, this one is clearly more harmonious but still with enough power. Exciting are the light peachy / apricot notes with eucalyptus and dark chocolate with cappuccino, cinnamon, nutmeg and nuts, as well as some lemon zest and at the very end comes back to me the characteristic menthol / grapefruit peel note. I also like very well, almost a little better depending on the mood!😁🥳Anyway, both bottlings are imho absolute Mauritius Gray's benchmarks!👌🏽"

"Not the oldest rum I have tried so far, but nearly. I tasted this rum together with RX18823 (WDC Cuba 1992). And I must say that on the nose there isn’t much difference, both are relatively weak (smooth) there, no alcohol noticeable at all. On the palate the difference is bigger: The 1963 is much woodier, which is no surprise, taking the age into regard. But also remarkably stronger in the sense of mouth filling, which is surprising, because it contains less alcohol (48,5%). While in the 1992 I can taste malt, the 1963 comes out with licorice and leather - it really reminds me of a very old Demerara rum! :flushed::yum: Conclusion: In the mouth they develop a slightly different taste and strength, but both are great rums imo - 88 points each. ¡Salud! :tumbler_glass::tumbler_glass: P. "The raisin aroma in the nose can also be found on the palate, but only in the middle section. Before that, I briefly taste something like the addition of vanillin from baking (thanks, Dirk, for the classification). After the really concise, pleasant taste of sweet raisins and dried apricot, I really like the wonderful cocoa and coffee finish, which can be felt for a long time in the empty glass. No alcohol perceptible on the nose at any time, great! Very dark color, but not - as one might expect - an oily, heavy texture, but rather light. My conclusion: A drinkable, round, elegant rum from start to finish, with no break between nose and palate, which is certainly a great match for a cigar. Due to the 1992 vintage in combination with the country of origin, this rum has an absolutely unique selling point. Is that what you call a unicorn? Whether it really is significantly better than the TWJ 1978 (from the same distillery in Santiago de Cuba, as I assume after tasting it) remains to be seen in a direct comparison. But I'm already sure that the guys from the Wu Dram Clan are to be congratulated once again on their excellent choice of cask. Recommendation! Update 2024-04-10: Finally direct tasting today against the Cuban 1978 from TWJ (RX17933) and the difference could hardly be greater. I see my earlier separate assessments confirmed: They may both come from the same distillery, but where I taste incisively fine cocoa in the 92, in the 78 it's just penetrating tasting damp, charred wood - like a campfire that was put out yesterday and got rain overnight. The 78 has simply been in the barrel too long."

"The expectations are already very high after the review on whiskyfun.com - and thus already on the road in somewhat unfair dimensions. No, we are not on the level of the Demerara king class, as the age, the pipe tobacco notes and also the deep mahogany in the glass let hope (at least these thoughts slumbered in me). But we nevertheless have the distinct pleasure of an expressive and very appealing rum, whose imposing age does not introduce any distracting bitter notes, but contributes to the aromatic density. On the palate, the sweetness reminiscent of Paxarette increasingly gains the upper hand over the probably manageably complex distillate in its origin, which on the one hand means that we are not advancing to the absolute Olympus here, but on the other hand we are still on an extremely high level. Summa summarum: A very appealing release that offers a lot of fun."

<3 88 Pkt. Vielen Dank an Mto75 für die Samples!"

"A Cuban at cask strength is not so common. Nose fruity and also somehow meaty, a little vanilla, a little wood but not intense. Alcoholically spicy on the palate. Fruits and spices take a back seat to the wood and roasted notes. Pleasant mild finish with spice, barrel, roasted aromas and a little dried fruit. Good Cuban rum."

"for over 1000€ 0.5 liters of rum and then not even a proper age statement is a cheek. the thing is just a prestige object nothing more, the only thing that costs money here is the valuable bottle design. taste but not much better than pampero anniversario, millonario XO etc... for the money you could easily buy 15 single casks... pity! very pity!"

"Interesting profile that definitely shows its age, but without being overpowering. Chocolate and dried fruit aromas add some sweetness, but remain in the background due to the barrel aromas, milk coffee, leathery meat notes and fresh fruit aromas. Well-balanced and easy to drink, delicious, just a little too little pointed in the individual aromas, which is somewhat at the expense of complexity."

"Had a retaste and this time I had the right cigar to go with it and wow what a difference, this is truly a mix well worth a try even though the cigar is slightly expensive and hard to get. Just decided to crack open this wonderful bottle and I regret not having a Cohiba Piramides to go with it. I know it was made to match the Cohiba Siglo VI, but that is too heavy a cigar for me :-) A cooperation between master blender Asbel Morales and cigar sommelier Fernando Fernández and they made something out of this world. A wonderful deep and elegant masterpiece that has a long, warm and elegant balanced finish. A rum worthy of the price tag and then some!"

"Compared to the parallel tasted RX930 clearly more accessible, here the lower alcohol content pays off times properly. The Bristol Cuban is a typical representative of the Destilería "Paraíso", light and fluffy and wonderfully fragrant and tasting of apple and pear.An ideal companion for a lively evening and quite offerable to friends who otherwise have nothing to do with rum.I would probably prefer the rum with 5-10% more alcohol, if he would bring the same flavors so beautifully to the fore, but he is also so a pleasant rum with recognition value."

"The packaging is definitely worth the price. It's not much good as a rum, but I didn't have high expectations. The rum is not intended for advanced connoisseurs, but probably more for pirate collectors and exclusive hotel bars overseas. The rum itself is Spanish and unremarkable. Somewhat very woody, noticeably sweetened. Quite nice overall. Never worth the price in life, of course."

"This nice sipper has to rest for a while before nosing or you'll get a punch of alcoholic blast. The nose is wonderfully smooth even velvety I'd say. Smoky wood and fruity with toffee and spices. The palate is complex and very well balanced with smoky oak and spices and a hint of the cognac cask it was finished in. The finish is long and sweet with spices and coffee and once again a hint of the cognac cask."

"Another retaste and I stick to my initial score. This is the bomb of Chairman’s Reserve. A very intense and well balanced rum. I was very locky to get a sample and I like it a lot. The nose is intense and has smoky wood and fruit trailed by cinnamon and coffee. The palate takes off where the nose left. A warm and intense rum, yet well balanced with smoky wood, fruits and spices. The finish is extremely long and warm with smoky wood, dried fruits and spices. Price to quality can be argued, when I compare it to my other old Chairman’s Reserve rums for which I paid less than half :-)"

Top review from RumTaTa:
"After pouring into the glass, the rum immediately takes possession of the surrounding air with thick, heavy swaths. Closer to the glass I find sour cherry, red berries and cassis. The fruit compote is accompanied by very pleasant and balanced roasted and barrel notes. Pleases me excellently. I have compared on the fly with some other St Lucia but this one is a blast on the nose! On the palate, the tannins clearly have the upper hand: lots of spice, oak, leather, salty licorice. The fruit is only subtly in the background and from the bitter category. The rum reminds me of old Armagnac on the palate. The ever-long aftertaste is clearly dominated by barrel and spice. I would have liked the fruits of the nose to reappear but so there is a certain break between nose and palate. The bitter notes, however, are not in the unpleasant range for my sensation. Regardless, an excellent, intense, powerful rum."

"Yummy 😋 😋 this is powerful, kicks a punch and I really really like it! It has some similarities in intensity and heaviness to the Grand Arome - Plantation Reunion Rye Whiskey, that I also like, but this is less sweet and much better balanced and has a much much higher quality over all. The intensity is not for all and it’s certainly not a beginners rum, but I enjoy this immensely. So happy that I now got a couple of bottles of this rum as it’s getting hard to get hold of. - Getting back to this bottle every other month and… yummy 😋 - This time tasting with some rum nerds and it’s really really nice."

Sehr lecker. Danke Vincent für das Sample. The alcohol also stings a bit on the nose. On the palate, vanilla, dark chocolate, roasted flavors. The nose is fruity with smoky wood, vanilla, tea and a hint of varnish. I love the cherry flavour that becomes clearer if you leave the glass empty for a while. Plantation Fiji Islands 2007 (Finished in Ferrand 10...
Top review from Jakob:
"The 2007 vintage is dominated by tropical fruits, which gallantly play to their strengths; they are joined by light sweetness of pastry and sugar as well as floral aromas. All of this plays out well on the palate, and the alcohol is well integrated. The fruit melange is very appealing and offers complexity, light tobacco aromas, a bit of tart spiciness and toasted aromas from the barrel. Overall, however, the spectrum remains a bit too straightforward, the present counterpoints to the herbal-fruity freshness and thus the other aromatic influences that could provide additional excitement are missing. However, this remains almost the only flaw in this rum, which basically knows how to convince absolutely."

Top review from TheRhumhoe:

When this bottle was released the price tag was extremely good compared to what you get. Medium fruity with light roasted wood notes and esters. A tad too sweet for me but it will probebly have a huge fan base out there. "

"This relatively new spiced rum from Pussers have replaced the old one at just ABV 35%. Pusser’s says it’s blended to Admiralty specifications at ABV 54.5% and aged for a minimum of three years in charred oak bourbon barrels whereafter it’s mellowed with a subtle blend of spices. The finish is rather long, thanks to the 54,5%. It’s okay to drink neat and much better than the old one. I believe it could be great in cocktails and drinks."
