"After a long wait and many bids, I finally won an auction and received this one yesterday. Considering the price some may think I'm mad, but I just love rum. This particular one is one year older than me (destillation year) and has matured for 36 years! The nose is amazing and heaven 17 with fruits and spices topped with smoke and molasses. In the back i can find leather, wow, so nice. The palate is complex and very well balanced candied fruits, spices and toffee followed by tea and nuts topped of by oak. The finish is forever nutty with toffee and coffee and again oak. Money well spent :-) "

"Luckily this was the last rum of the evening or all the other samples would have failed horribly in comparison. A great rum and again one that was hidden in the back of a top shelf at a tiki bar., where they had a rum aficionado. The nose is complex and well balanced with fruits, smoked Wood, vanilla and chocolate. The chocolate and vanilla really come out if you leave the empty glass for a while. The palate takes off where the nose finishes. Complex and well balanced with fruit, smoky wood, vanilla and a hint of coffee/mocha. The finish is incredibly long with wood, cherries, chocolate and vanilla. I know this is a rare bottle, but my oh my, what a great rum."

"When it comes to REV this is one of the best ones I have tried. It gets to you as soon as you pop the bottle. I left it to rest for 15 minutes after which the flavours eminating from the glass were very intense. Very fruity with roasted wood and some leather and caramel. I also find a light earthy note in the back. The palate is complex and very fruity with roasted wood. Secondly I get vanilla, chocolate and a hint of tobacco. A full bodied rum, wow. The finish is long with roasted wood/smoky wood, chocolate and raisin. Great rum that deserves credit."

"Is often called the King of Hampden - and especially in direct comparison with other representatives of the already extremely exciting 1993 vintage, the outstanding quality becomes more than clear. The balance can only be described as famos - here nothing negative stands out: overripe fruits meet vanilla, caramel sweetness, dark spices and light roasted aromas. Superb!"

Top review from Anton Krioukov:
"What a pleasant and intense experience! This rum is crisp, bold, and surprising with each sip. It is light in both color and wood notes, considering it’s been in the cask for 19 years, but if you’re looking for funky rums, this is it! This rum brings lots of fruit, funk, and there’s everything you would expect from a high ester rum of this caliber."

Top review from Adrian Wahl:
"I am incredibly grateful to be able to drink this sample. Thank you @ Saibot Ztar. I was hoping the 94 would drop and it would beat the Nobilis 93. But alas, on both the palate and the nose, it's not enough. 92 is still legendary...but I expected even more. In direct comparison with the TRC30 for me on par."

"Sampling this one right now and I have to admit that it's one of the most well balanced rums I have ever tried when it comes to ABV integration.Very fruity and lovely funk from nose to finish. There is a slight roasting note on the finish that I like a lot.Wonderful rum that is virtually impossible to get.Put my nose in the glass today and the smoke is very strong today :-)"

"#10th dec RumXCalendar Blind tasting: Nose: delicious, pineapple, ester, fruitbasket, glue Mouth: Pineapple, ester, barrel, oak Finish: long, pineapple, barrel, oak, dry, a bit astringent Amazing delicious High Ester Hampden 😍 Funk Extreme! A lot of fruits in the nose, the more time you’ll give it the more fruits you’ll get. Important: This rum needs time to fully open min. 1 hour. I think it’s a hampden… in the high ester section <>H ca.60% approx. 30 Years"

"I just cracked open this bottle because I finished the older brother. Just noticed I didn't score the older ones yet, so I will have to check my binders for it. An absolutely wonderful rum, well balanced, lovely nose and great palate with a perfect medium to long finish. Flibuste is the only brand where I always buy at least 2 bottles of each of their old releases because I know their baseline is ver high. I can only recommend this rum even if you're not an Agricole fan. "

"Dove back into a retaste of this one and it's still a very good release. Despite the steep price of 1300, - euro I decided to buy this bottle and opened it for a taste after it arrived yesterday. Wow, this is a great rum, though expensive I must say it's almost a perfect rum."

"Très sombre. Très beau profil beaucoup plus sombre que son petit frère le 15ans de 2004. Le chocolat et le café sont bien présent en bouche avec un ton de fruits rouges. Un grand neisson mais je lui préfère le 15ans plus solaire et complexe. J’y reviens un an après et c’est toujours une merveille. Et ça a du caractère et de la complexité en bouche."

"Retasting with the RumX guys. -------- This was my favourite of the evening. A lot of lovely oak and oak spices from nose to finish. Dry and kind of sweet at the same time. Wonderful balance between the heavy oak notes, fruits and spices. The sprinkle of chocolate and tobacco makes it a very smooth Agricole."

"This is a great rum and the price to quality is very good in my mind. The nose is fruity with wood, nuts and vanilla with trailing caramel and a nice floral note. The palate has toasted wood and fruit trailed by vanilla, licorice and chocolate. There is also a hint of menthol in there. The chocolate and fruits become very clear in the empty glass. The finish is long and has wood, chocolate and raisin with trailing vanilla."

"This one is even better than the 15 year old but also carries a price tag that's a lot heavier. Well rounded and balanced rum with a fruity and floral profile with some spices and nice integrated wood. You barely feel the ABV and it draws really nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass is really nice and fruity."

"This bottle has been resting for too long on my shelf so today was the day to finally open it. Righ from popping the bottle open, the flavours start spreading. The nose starts off with a hint of solvent and rubber that quickly disappeared. Then apricot and oak with a hint of licorice, tobacco and caramel. The palate is well balanced and complex as well as warming with fruit and some anise. The i get oak and chocolate, yum. The finish is very long and warm, fruity with oak and spices and in the back some marzipan. "

Top review from Robert Bauer:
"Nose The Bouquet is a Versace dress in liquid aggregate. Incredibly oplulent, vibrant and yet of undeniable elegance. Feels almost like a perfume called Eau de Demerara, coming straight from the jungle. The scent of the finest, freshly cut woods such as sandalwood and cedar alternates in continuous play with lovely blossoms of ylang-ylang, poppy blossom, lilac and myrrh. The whole weave is carried by sweet mangoes, sticky glue and a light coconut blossom note, which absolutely corresponds to the Diamond profile. Palate La grande bellezza! Sweet, super concentrated and oily, the first sip fills the palate with dried mangos, fried cassava slices, tamarind paste and milk chocolate with coconut filling. But there is also a note of Masala Chai in there, giving it an oriental twist. The sweetness is striking! At no point does the 61.4% abv seem dominant or sharp. The tropical maturation has done a perfect job here! It's clearly a Diamond Coffey Still Rum, yet it somehow tastes more refined and sophisticated than the other Velier Diamonds. ғɪɴɪsʜ Long like the red carpet of Cannes, flanked by the abovementioned fine woods and a whole bunch of citrus peels."

"To date, the most impressive testimony to the quality Foursquare is capable of producing. Aging in former Madeira barrels brings a perfect flavor complement to the usual Foursquare profile and puts the Destino in a different league than the bulk of other Foursquare bottlings. Excellent."
RX53
Top review from Oliver:
"One can directly recognize the Foursquare DNA. Compared to other bottlings, however, an uncanny complexity and depth awaits, reminiscent of tropically aged Demerara bottlings. On the palate, round, nutty-spicy, intense, multilayered with a great sweetness. Similar to the 2006 just a touch more complex. Best Foursquare so far. A real firework in the mouth - Love it!"
RX13563
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:

"This is a great Barbadian. Once poured you know you're in Barbados. I love the coconut that is there from nose to finish. Seems like they hit the right barrel for this release. Well balanced overall and natural sweetness on the palate. Price to quality is very good."
RX9744
Top review from Rhum Mirror 🇧🇪:

Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This is a very rare rum as only 250 bottles were made. If you get the chance then you should have a go. It virtually explodes in your mouth, and you really taste the alcohol. Let it rest in the glass for at least 15 minutes to avoid a punch from the alcohol. "

RX15940
Top review from Oliver:
"In the nose much fruitier and a little lighter than the Destino. Great aroma! On the palate creamy, spicy and somewhat edgy. Very good, but the alcohol is integrated in the Destino but again ne number better. The Oloroso maturation is noticeable, but not too dominant. Very good Foursquare, but to my taste does not reach the epic quality of the Destino."
RX3804
Top review from Jakob:
"The nose is still relatively unspectacular, as far as one can speak of a tropically aged Caroni from the over vintage 1996 - but on the palate then rises a real fireworks. Sweetness, spice, borderline smokiness, wood, rubber and tar...I feel well taken care of all around, precisely because this rum definitely has rough edges and also the high alcohol content does not hide and brings out the Caroni-typical notes almost perfectly. Impressive level."

"I’m extremely honoured to have a few drops of rum history in my glass. The colour is quite dark and once you plunge your nose into the glass you are hit with a ton of aromas. Dried fruit, vanilla, wood, spices, caramel and leather. I could n’ose the glass for hours. On the palate I get the same, the rum is round and complex with a lovely finish. Quite amazing when you think about the sailors drinking this and similar blends. They sure got some good stuff back in the day. Many, many thanks to Michael for the sample! 🤗"

Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Retasting and I still like it a lot. ------- This is also e very expensive bottle and I'd say the price can be argued, but you can't argue the quality of the rum. The nose just hits you right in the face. Fruit and smoky oak hits you first and then comes the molasses and caramel with a whif of leather. The palate is complex yet wonderfully balanced. Roasted wood and oak hit the palate right away closely followed molasses, vanilla and light chocolate. There is an ever so light bitterness to the palate. The finish is long and surprisingly smooth with oak, vanilla and dried fruit."

"#4197 It's very rare that blends like this, in my mind, very bold choice of rums. This one however Hits the nail on the head. The two mice very well and you get the cross cross of flavours from the two destilleres. Bold blend that pulls all the right strings."

Top review from Jakob:
"Definitely not a straightforward Navy blend. Impressive complexity, much Jamaican influence, the high age is clearly recognizable. Mint, eucalyptus, tropical fruits, wood, spices...impressive! As a lover of complex rums, I feel perfectly picked up here. Definitely not a standard Navyrum because the heavy Guyana notes are almost entirely underrepresented, but that doesn't change the fact that this is an exquisite release. Chapeau!"

"I just love this rum so I have ordered yet another backup bottle. This is a pretty well blended and also well balanced rum from Black Tot. Spicy bit well balanced with the other elements and you barely get a burn from the proof once rested for 15 minutes. The dominant rum in this blend is clearly the one from Guyana. You only get hints of the ones from Jamaica and Barbados. For the price a pretty good rum."
RX15817

"Successful blend - the DOK is of course tamed, but gets a successful counterpoint by the sweet notes of the Spanish style, which unlike the sherry finishes without the heavy fruit notes. Great addition to the high-ester spectrum, little insider tip."

Top review from Mirko Frosini 🇮🇪:
"Un rum come il Mulata 15 anni che al gusto mi ricorda il Caroni con quelle note forti di barile e catrame. Veramente interessante con ottime potenzialità peccato il finale leggero. Sentori leggeri di spezie, tostatura e cioccolato, comunque ben integrate. Al momento viene 130 euro e a causa di un finale così fugace non saprei se meriterebbe l'acquisto."

"This is also an older tasting and at the release the price was very good compared to what you got. This rum is heavy, really heavy and it hits you as soon as you open the bottle. I'm not a certain but I made a note that I thought there was a hint of raisin in there. The nose is heavy on roasted wood with tar, molasses and some nuts. The palate is heavy, very complex and extremely well balanced with lots of roasted, even burnt wood actually, tar, molasses and a hint of mint. The finish goes on forever and has lots of roasted/burnt wood and tar. The note I have is that the colour was beautifully dark, bomb of a nose and heavy curtains in the glass."
RX801
Top review from RumTaTa:
"Second tasting: the nose is the hammer, very similar to the '95! On the palate then a dream, incredibly creamy and the alcohol excellently integrated, there is the '95 much sharper (+1). In the nose first resin and cough syrup, very complex! Palate: surprisingly mild, excellent integrated alcohol, strong spicy and again very complex. The medicinal notes are in the foreground. Aftertaste: the rum fades very slowly. The medicinal and grassy notes prevail. The medicinal character dominates the rum and makes it something special, top!"
RX1070
Top review from Jakob:
"Completely different league than all other Montebellos known to me - it should of course also be noted that it is in the comparison field in terms of distillation vintages a difference of more than three decades. What is offered here, however, is simply sensational: In the nose already of breathtaking depth with heavy fruits, fresh cola aroma and floral notes, the bouquet thickens on the palate to an oily texture with chocolaty sweetness, heavy fruitiness, excellent spice and perfectly balanced wood influence. Whatever Carrere (or whoever - the exact origin is still rumored) did differently than today: Play it again, Sam!"

"If you like Bellevue then this is one of the really good ones. Price to quality was great at release. The nose is intense and fruity with wood, cinnamon, honey and herbal notes after resting for more than 15 minutes. The palate is both intense, complex and well balanced with fruit, honey and leather with light candied, chocolate and herbal notes. "Had two tastings this weekend and Très Hombres was the first one. This rum kicks just the right places and I needed a drop of water to release more flavours. "Just had another go at this rum and knowing now, that it needs to rest for around 30 minutes, it scored better this time. A very rich and full bodied rum with a nice long strong finish.

"Crass Savanna Lord but that was to be expected ... Has taste what of very overripe kiwi, plus neat Wick ice candy, raw tobacco leaves and herbs and olive brine. Personally, it is a little too grassy and could be even fruitier. Nevertheless, a great representative of Savanna Lord in pure form!🤤"

"I got this bottle on Friday and sitting here enjoying it on a Sunday :-) I have tried a few Savanna grand arômes and I mostly like them. This one however is really good. The glass needs to rest in order for all the flavours to be released. I got most flavours after 30 minutes where it really gets fruity and you can pick up on the wood. I like the spicy touch well balanced with the spices, varnish and some licorice. A great rum and the price to quality is very good."

"what a grenade!!🤤⚡💥🤯🇷🇪 incredibly complex. After 1H breath cinnamon pastry, apple pockets and honey banana in the nose. In addition Incredibly mild for 65%, horny sour cherry, pineapple, strawberry and mint, chamomile olive notes and very complex and dangerously drinkable. Musty, fermented and glue-heavy to no end. This thing is definitely the full broadside of Savanna but almost a bit too much for me. The lava and madras are more my cup of tea here."

"A great rum! You can feel the initial strength of the alcohol, but the aromas that come after a while are well marked and you don't have to sniff the glass for too long. A firm, old-fashioned rum. On the palate, in addition to a fruity and vegetal component (where olives stand out), this aftertaste of solvents/esters never unpleasant stands out. "Since @crazyforgoodbooze hooked me on Mauritius at the 11th GRF, I've been trying to get to know that country's rums better. With this one, I like the expressive currant note on the palate. A really pleasant rum, but with an unremarkable nose and short finish that can't match Perola's Grays (RX12865) from the same year. Update 2023-07-02: I must have had a bad day at the first tasting, only 82 points just doesn't do the rum justice. Now, at the second tasting, it has a super long, fruity-woody finish. The impressive red rum now gets a well-deserved 86 points. Pretty good PLV for a single cask and still available, wonderful."

"Clearly milder and more drinkable than the 11y old without finish. The additional 20 months in the Armagnac finish have softened the rum perfectly and taken him some of the edges. The 11y is clearly more funky and intense, this one is clearly more harmonious but still with enough power. Exciting are the light peachy / apricot notes with eucalyptus and dark chocolate with cappuccino, cinnamon, nutmeg and nuts, as well as some lemon zest and at the very end comes back to me the characteristic menthol / grapefruit peel note. I also like very well, almost a little better depending on the mood!😁🥳Anyway, both bottlings are imho absolute Mauritius Gray's benchmarks!👌🏽"

"So this is how a rum tastes that consists of 100% aguardiente (a first for a Cuban distillate, as far as I know). And indeed: Something comparable I had not yet in the glass. Blind I would not have been able to assign the rum at all. In this first tasting, I focused on finding differences between Batch 1 and Batch 2. And they are indeed there: While Batch 1 gets going right away fruity-floral on the nose, Batch 2 is clearly more timid, more discreet. On the palate, however, it's the other way around: Batch 1 tends to confirm the impression gained on the nose, coming across like a light rum in a summer meadow with a gentle breeze blowing over it. Batch 2 is different: While Batch 1 seems somehow slightly broad, Batch 2 is clearly more astringent and has more depth, more wood and tobacco. On the latter, one could perhaps recognize the Cuban DNA - but only maybe.Overall, both are solid rums and which one tastes more, is probably dependent on the day or what weight you attach to the olfactory impression. Because of the interesting transformation from the nose to the palate, Batch 2 is a point ahead for me today. As I said, a very exciting bottling of Excellence Rhum and La Confrérie du Rhum. But if one wanted to dare at least a geographical comparison: To the long-stored consistently exquisite 98s of Sanct Spíritus ((Cuba) reach both batches not yet."

"After pouring into the glass, the rum immediately takes possession of the surrounding air with thick, heavy swaths. Closer to the glass I find sour cherry, red berries and cassis. The fruit compote is accompanied by very pleasant and balanced roasted and barrel notes. Pleases me excellently. I have compared on the fly with some other St Lucia but this one is a blast on the nose! On the palate, the tannins clearly have the upper hand: lots of spice, oak, leather, salty licorice. The fruit is only subtly in the background and from the bitter category. The rum reminds me of old Armagnac on the palate. The ever-long aftertaste is clearly dominated by barrel and spice. I would have liked the fruits of the nose to reappear but so there is a certain break between nose and palate. The bitter notes, however, are not in the unpleasant range for my sensation. Even after hours in the glass, this isn't quite the big explosion, but in the mouth it's great cinema This is the Chairman's with the best mouthfeel I've tasted so far - very fruity and fantastic alcohol integration. Besides the overripe tropical fruit, ginger and fresh herbaceous menthol notes.Compared to the GotA a bit juicier and not as extremely dry. Here, a very own dirty note (burnt plastic) meets deep spice, menthol, wood, fruit esters, a minimum of caramel and plenty of medicinal hints. Im Abgang Holz, leichte Bitterstoffe und etwas Süße. Leider recht kurzer Abgang. Alkohol in Ordnung eingebunden, man merkt ihm den Dampf an. Für den 2001er Jahrgang kein herrausragender Fiji, aber dennoch ein sehr guter Rum."

"Some migh consider this a light rum, but it's one of the best Fiji rums I have tasted. Fresh and fruity with some grass and flowers on there. I really like the smoky wood finish that last for a good while. On the first sip it is kind og heavy but it settles after that. Leave to rest for a good while and all the goodness comes at you. Leave the glass once empty and whif it after a couple of hours, pure joy I can tell you."

Plantation Fiji Islands 2007 (Finished in Ferrand 10...
Top review from Jakob:
"The 2007 vintage is dominated by tropical fruits, which gallantly play to their strengths; they are joined by light sweetness of pastry and sugar as well as floral aromas. All of this plays out well on the palate, and the alcohol is well integrated. The fruit melange is very appealing and offers complexity, light tobacco aromas, a bit of tart spiciness and toasted aromas from the barrel. Overall, however, the spectrum remains a bit too straightforward, the present counterpoints to the herbal-fruity freshness and thus the other aromatic influences that could provide additional excitement are missing. However, this remains almost the only flaw in this rum, which basically knows how to convince absolutely."

"the 16 years in American oak are already very noticeable on the nose. With the oak barrel then also comes the accompanying vanilla flavor, plus some caramel. The alcohol also stings a bit on the nose. On the palate, vanilla, dark chocolate, roasted flavors. Impression as with the Nobilis (No.16) 2004 South Pacific: unfortunately rather below average and far from the great 2001 bottlings."

"I like this bottler and I have just oddered three different releases from Jamaica. Their average quality is pretty good and the price tage even better. The nose is fruity with smoky wood, vanilla, tea and a hint of varnish. I love the cherry flavour that becomes clearer if you leave the glass empty for a while. The palate is lightly dry with smoky wood, fruits and spices. There is a lovely minty touch in there as well. The finish is lightly dry with smoky wood and a mix of fruits. Price to quality is very good."

"Schlichtweg der beste Fiji, den TRC angefüllt hat! Geile Nase, geiler Geschmack! Nach Cross Tasting mit dem RC Fiji und dem LMDW Fiji ist dieser knapp auf dem ersten Platz weil er für mich die dreckigeren Fiji Noten hat, die ich so mag."

"I just returned from a luxury tasting I was invited to and I'm actually a bit tipsy this time because all the rums had a high proof. This tasting was Plantation extreme only and this is the fifth one of the six. This just keeps getting better. Some of the best Fiji has to offer and then matured to perfection by Plantation. Sweet and soft bodied rum very well balanced with the proof. Typical Jamaica style rum and you won't regret a sip or two. Price to quality is good. "

Top review from TheRhumhoe:

"This rum is a blend of solera rums where one set is aged up to 40 years and the other for up to 21 years. All aging has been done in Europe so a very controlled aging process. This is another of those rums where people can agree to disagree. A sweet rum that is pretty well balanced. The price tag is a bit high compared to what you get. "

"This is definitely a rum for the fan base of A. H. Riise. Sweet like the usual rums from this company. The nose is sweet and fruity with a tad of smoke and mint. The palate is very sweet and the fruitiness continues from the nose. Creamy charred mint and vanilla. The finish is short to medium long and sweet with orange and oak. A tad too sweet for me but it will probebly have a huge fan base out there. "

"Delicious navy rum with sweet Demerara backbone, which is gallantly complemented by tropical fruits. In addition, present spicy notes and subtle latte flavors...not settled in the Champions League, but this is still really fun!"

"Ist mal was ganz anderes.
