"14.12.2023 Retasting this one and I still really like the balance and elegance it has. ---------------------- #4411 Whisky & Rom Festival 2023 28.10.2023 Notes. Well balanced with nice roasted wood. Dried fruit with spices and a light polish note and some licorice. There is a nice natural sweetness to it."

"Very prominent Caroni nose. Caroni notes are also very present on the palate. This one feels very smooth and soft (mind you compared to other Caronis at higher ABVs) and enjoyable as long as you fancy Caroni notes. Really not bad, however, the hardcore Caroni enthusiasts may miss some punch out of this bottling"

"04-05.11.2022 Den Danske Rom & Whiskyfestival 2022. Another return to this big event where many people go to get drunk. Once again we had a special event for a select set of people. Notes. Not a bad rum with nice fruits once rested for a good while. If you don't rest it it'll bite you. Smoky/roasted wood with a herbal touch. Very long and warm finish."

"On the nose, the rum is quite talkative. Everything you would expect from a Jamaican. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it can't keep this up in the mouth. I can taste a slight bitterness in the aftertaste, which I don't find pleasant. This is also the point that prevents it from getting a better rating. Unfortunately, it's not for me neat. Not bad as a mixer, but it wouldn't necessarily be my first choice."

"29.09.2023 This is a nice and intense unaged. I tried this one at a whopping 83% where it's even better in my mind. Intense and fruity with floral and earthy notes. The palate is oily and spicy with fruit and grassy notes. The finish is very long and warm with some citrus. Draws nice and thick curtains in the glass. The empty glass is fresh and has some iodine and very light mint."

"Erstmal fand ich die Kommunikation seitens des Abfüllers suboptimal. Mir wâre es lieber gewesen es hätte direkt geheißen: EHP, 26 Jahre, kontinental. Danach kann man sich ja gerne in blumigen Sätzen und Teasern auslassen. Aber ok. Das Sample war dann schon bestellt, als klar wurde, dass es ein kontinentaler EHP ist. Also auch wenig Erwartungshaltung. Nase ist überraschend lecker mit Kokos, Schokolade, Zimt, Trockenfrüchten aber auch einer schönen Fruchtigkeit und etwas Minze. Am Gaumen kann er aber wirklich kaum abliefern … insgesamt ganz nett, aber für den Preis gibt’s tropische EHPs … z.B. den 1996 aus der rare collection. Und da liegen Welten zwischen. Also: kein schlechter Rum, aber den Preis ganz ganz sicher nicht annähernd wert."

"Schon in der Nase sticht deutlich das Whisky-Finish hervor. An Gaumen setzt sich das vor allen im Abgang fort. Auch wenn das wahrscheinlich relativ gelungen ist, weil es insgesamt gut passt, kann ich persönlich damit nicht so viel anfangen."

"Accessibility 3/5 (Difficult). The oloroso sherry cask is dominant but the French oak is distinct. This is a difficult one. Lots of burnt woody notes in a very spirit heavy rum, and with the sweetness well buried underneath peaty and spicy tastes."

"Very agricole style Mauritian rum. Pretty sure this is sugarcane juice spirit. Not sure which distillery (Chamarel?) but my guess it is not New Grove. Nice balance of dry, fresh, some acidic flavours. Very pure. Not much wood. I like it."
