Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"I would have loved if this rum had a higher ABV because it's very light in the profile. This also makes it sweeter that it should have been in my mind. Fruity with nice roasted wood. Draws really nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass is really nice and I can pick up some tobacco and citrus."

"I usually don't really like these sugared Spanish-style rums and I even doubt that the age statements of the Malteco rum-line can be trusted but the 'vintages' from them are very, very tasty and I like them a lot. Update: Now too thin for me, good daily sipper though."

"One of the favorites. The maturation in Rioja Casks gives an Interesting “oily” feeling to the Rum and is a lige more complex and different compared to the standard Ron Sostenible 8 YO in Bourbon Casks. Very Long finish.. almost perfect."

"Also got this one today and I decided to let it rest for 15 minutes before having a sip. Compared to the first release in 2016, this one is very different. Less sweet and definitely goes well with a cigar from Cuba. Aged in very old barrels, some may say the wood dominates, but I think the overall taste is worthy of a big rum. The price tag is a bit high but it matches the rarety and quality. I have decided to order the 2018, 2019 and the recently released 2020 as well :-) "

"Despite the age this rum has very little wood to it, not a bad thing perse because all the dirty Caroni notes are there. The nose is fruity with spices and all the lovely Caroni flavours; rubber and tar. In the back i also get medicinal notes and caramel. The palate takes off where the nose left off. Spicy with fruit, spices and then rubber and tar. After resting there is even more flavours, chocolate, light earthy and medicinal notes. The finish is long with tropical fruits, spices, tobacco and light menthol notes. A lovely Caroni with a twist."

"A very nice and well balanced release. Would have loved a higher ABV though. Fruity with nice roasted wood notes. Oily and draws really nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass has very nice flavours and reveals light leather and coffee."

"When looking at the price this rum gives you a lot for your money. The nose is complex with lots of fruit, spice and toffee as well as bourbon and light minty notes. The palate is also complex, sweet and warm with lots of fruit and spices trailed by roasted wood notes. The finish is long and warm with spices, fruits and light chocolate. Make sure you rest it before nosing and sipping and try to leave the empty glass for a few hours and whiff it again."

Also schon reduziert ins Fass…?) 22C.
