Top review from Jakob:
"It is already apparent on the nose, but on the palate it is finally clear: this is a top representative from the 1995 Clarendon vintage. Fully ripe tropical fruit, mint, wood, even the age is recognizable - in a positive sense. Very complex, yet round, fresh, yet heavy - the EMB profile of the 1995 vintage is definitely one of the best of the EMB profile and also sets benchmarks for Jamaican releases in general. This rum is further proof of this - only the alcohol integration is not quite on a par with its sister releases. Nevertheless, an exquisite release."

"This Caroni is right up my street. Wonderfully balanced, fruit and dirt in equal measure. Probably the best '97 continental-matured Caroni I've had in a glass. Now, if it were a little deeper, more powerful on the dark side of power, it would be phenomenal. As it is, it's "just" great. Nevertheless, I "need" a whole bottle of it. Because I don't think a better continental 97 will be bottled again. Many thanks, DrDjango, for the fine sample!"

"This was my contribution to the tasting and once we cracked open the bottle the flavours started spreading. Fruity with roasted wood and very good ABV integration. I really like the floral note and warm/spicy touch to the palate. Price to quality is very good in my mind."

"Comparatively bitter New Yarmouth 1994, which shows the typical sweetness DNA, but in addition already shows clear aging characteristics. The barrel has worked and, in addition to the obligatory vanilla, toffee and coconut notes, also bitter wood influences and tart leather notes flow in. However, all this remains within absolutely tolerable limits; in fact, I don't dislike these rough edges, the quaffable sweetness gets a clear counterpoint. Beautiful selection."

"Ui I should have struck with a bottle...Wonderfully fruity and fresh 😯😯I had not expected. Parallels to Guyana REV the balanced heavy fruit, herbs with wood one recognizes here again. ... also mint and even some funk is to smell and taste, great !!! Nice surprise!"

"A rare 1995 Caroni still available in England for a very good price. The nose is a silky mix of tropical fruit and rubber with a brown sugar/caramel edge. The palate is soft, with lots of fruit and little machine shop. A far cry from the 1997s, very close to the 1996s in fact, with a real balance of all the Caroni aromas. A rum with broad, deep aromas but with great drinkability thanks to a very fine integration of the alcohol. In the same vein as 2002's Gran Torino, but despite a higher ABV, the Gran Torino has a better integration of ink alcohol. I love it and recommend it!"

"The famous S.B.S. single cask tasting. Cask # 193. The best nose of the four, deep and balanced between fruity aromas and machine shop notes. The palate is disappointing, with clashed aromas and not-so-well-integrated alcohol. The finish is long but a little weak compared with the other 3. Best of the 4 on an empty glass."

"A very successful bottling from Swiss Guildive. A classic 1998 with Caroni machine shop markers but counterbalanced by fruit aromas and cooked pineapple in particular. An alcoholic nose at first, but the pineapple and the dirty side are there immediately afterwards. A little smokiness on the palate, still with fruit and tire. A very long, velvety, elegant finish with chocolate. Still available from Guildive at a fair price for a Caroni of this class... a little below the 1996 Caroni all the same. Much better than the Caroni Adelphi in direct comparison."

"Today there are two Foursquare: 1. covenant: This one tastes like it looks. Lots of dark fruit, somewhat leathery and dry on the palate. The cask influence is very strong, almost too strong. You have to know what you're getting into, but if you like it, you won't be disappointed. The alcohol is well integrated. Delicious Foursquare that I could imagine really enjoying from time to time! 2nd Absolutio: Awesome piece! There are no surprises on the nose or palate in terms of aromas. Mouth-filling, starts silky and pleasantly oily towards the finish. Pleasantly (dry) woody and chocolaty-fruity, great balance. The finish is very long and offers an interplay between dried fruit wrapped in chocolate and wood. I particularly like rums with these long, great finishes and that's what makes this rum for me! Wonderful, now it's "Hunters must hunt" Many thanks to Schnubbii!"

"Comparably lighter and more approachable profile. More heavy on roasted and fruity notes. Maintains a little more dirt compared to other early 1998 Caronis, however. Nice complexity and evolution on the palate keeps it interesting."

"wow. despite the high alcohol content and the 19y incredibly horny fruity and harmonious.cherry, tangerine, allspice, vanilla, pineapple and extremely much menthol both on the nose and in the taste in absolute harmony. in addition, some fig, cherry Hubba bubba and cocoa nibs discreetly with maple syrup and wood and black pepper. If he was a tick less "burnt bitter" and woody, I would prefer but still a grenade!🤤❤️🇱🇨🥂"

"Can you make oil from berries? At any rate, this is the taste of Kirsch's Mhoba, finely balanced with a somehow high-quality solvent. Special, different from the typical Mhoba flavor range, but just as good. Update 2024-03-03: Have the rum in the glass again today while bottling for a split and simply have to rate it highly, because the alcohol is basically imperceptible on the nose and is entirely in the service of flavor transport on the palate. How can a rum that has been aged for less than five years be so good! Great art."

"Wonderful nose, which unfortunately does not continue in the mouth. Instead, the typical TDL notes are joined by a strong cannabis note. Really special, something I've never experienced before. Of course, a higher ABV would also be better."

"This is yet another release of the 1997 Caroni and it has just gotten better with even more aging. A nice Trinidad and Tobago blend that shines beside the other 1997 releases. You may want to add a drop or two of water if you think it bites too much or you just leave it to rest for 15-30 minutes. A wonderful nose transferring into a full bodied complex rum with a long warm finish. "

"Whisky & Rom Festival 2023 28.10.2023 This is a retaste and I still like it a lot. Very mellow and well balanced. ------------------- This is a nice Port Mourant and I like the heavy nose with a lot of flavours being released after 15+ minutes of rest. Ester, coffee and herbs moving towards a medicinal nose. The palate is also kind of heavy with a floral touch, fruits and leather follows and still has a medicinal note. The finish is long and warm and you can clearly taste the sherry from the 5 year sherry cask finish."

"Guadeloupe 1998 Bellevue I had now already some but none like this: reminds me but actually of the old Courcelles from 1972 by this blatant strawberry jam and bitter orange jam note, which is rounded off by some wood, leather, vanilla, ginger and minimal orange flower water and menthol / mint and slightly bitter black tea. Very awesome and very elegant and especially unusual for this vintage! I really like it and better and better the more I drink it...."

"A really good Jamaican style rum with a real punch. I'd say most may need a few drops of water to make it a lot more digestible. Rest for 15-20 minutes for all flavours to be released. Has more bang for your buck than the 92 proof version."

"This is quite a successful MG, light and pleasant to drink. The alcohol is very well integrated. The nose is dominated by tart fruits such as a compote of green apple and kumquat and some caramel. Slightly sour fruit on the palate here too. This time more green apple with currants. I also notice coffee and nutty wood. The finish is not too long and is more on the woody side. All in all, a success, but the price... a clear "no" for me."

"Very interesting and complex. Medium-long finish, but not very punchy. I have to be honest, I cannot distinguish this marked black cherry aroma, in fact I found it well balanced. On the finish lychee/cherry. I sensed fleeting notes of marzipan / pastry. If I drink without thinking too much about the bouquet then I perceive its complexity and taste it really well. A very interesting rum that needs attention."

"Nice rum, but too similar to hampden the younger and the 50 euro difference is a tease to the consumer. Unfortunately lately Velier is releasing overpriced bottlings where you pay for the brand and less for the quality of the product. Personally I would never buy it taking into account that the overproof can be found at 80 euros and this at 110 and the younger at 59."

Palate Round, balanced, light earthy, sugarcane, medium spicy, light olive, sake, citrus. Finish Medium long, fresh, citrus, vegetal. The empty glass has stronger sake like flavours as well as a touch of flowers."

Schon ein spezielles Profil, was mich in seiner Eigentümlichkeit etwas an manchen Fiji denken lässt.

"This rum is also a bit sharp due to the 45% but it's still very well balanced. In the taste the whisky/bourbon cask is very dominant, but not in a bad way. A very long finish that starts of a tad strong but fades down to a very nice rum pretty fast and then just sticks. Remember to let it rest for at least 15 minutes! "

The final agreement came to 6 rums a day and then enjoy nice walks or ferry rides during the day. Notes Light to medium dark in colour. Nose Fresh, light wood, orange, light cherries, spice, ginger, light chocolate, faint caramel.

"Not a classic beauty but with her own charm. No short dance-off in the disco followed by a quick number. Here you have to go out for dinner and a movie first😜 2-3 drops of water, if you like, help to round it off. Needs air and time. I let it breathe for over an hour. Certainly not for the daily sipper. Dark and heavy, it fits me extremely well."
