Top review from Frank:
"Wow, what an age, what a great vintage. Great HGML.Nose: intense and concentrated and of course the stark esters come first here, but nicely captured in honey and caramelized wood. Sweet and sour pineapple alongside ripe banana. A pleasant freshness comes through lemon and tangerine. A fine vinegar note at the back. Totally round, nothing stings. 91Palate: just as intense and concentrated as in the nose. Astringent at first before the esters get ready. A slightly woody bitter note or even bitter almond comes in before pineapple and marzipan take over. Light umami and licorice at the back. Also very round. 93What can I say. HGML brilliant, 35yo brilliant, ABV brilliant. Only that it almost does not matter whether 20, 25, or 30, 35 yo, because always good, is basic. pity"

"A rare 1995 Caroni still available in England for a very good price. The nose is a silky mix of tropical fruit and rubber with a brown sugar/caramel edge. The palate is soft, with lots of fruit and little machine shop. A far cry from the 1997s, very close to the 1996s in fact, with a real balance of all the Caroni aromas. A rum with broad, deep aromas but with great drinkability thanks to a very fine integration of the alcohol. In the same vein as 2002's Gran Torino, but despite a higher ABV, the Gran Torino has a better integration of ink alcohol. I love it and recommend it!"

"Reminiscent of a T.D.L with some REV through the mint/black tea note. Adds a great and heavy barrel influence due to the tropical aging. After some time grapefruit, herbs and some glue come in. The alcohol is very well integrated. An almost endless finish. Lots to discover here. Great. My #2 from the Hearts Collection!"

"wow. despite the high alcohol content and the 19y incredibly horny fruity and harmonious.cherry, tangerine, allspice, vanilla, pineapple and extremely much menthol both on the nose and in the taste in absolute harmony. in addition, some fig, cherry Hubba bubba and cocoa nibs discreetly with maple syrup and wood and black pepper. If he was a tick less "burnt bitter" and woody, I would prefer but still a grenade!🤤❤️🇱🇨🥂"

Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"Hmm, heretical question: could it possibly be that this Rhum is generally somewhat overrated in the euphoric exuberance in view of a perfectly prepared four-piece set for collectors? 🤔 Too much advance praise? I certainly had to drink it in first. 😳 After the typical for me notes of whitewashed wall dominate the nose, the rhum lacks almost everything on the palate, which has fascinated me in the 1st release of the series. Only out the back, in the finish, comes a certain spicy power, which compensates somewhat for the arbitrary impression on the palate.Still, no comparison with the divine No. 1, rather with the already weakening No. 7 (even if a direct crosstasting is still pending).I would not have thought. Bad form on the day?update 2023-04-14:No, it's not because of bad form on the day. 🤷♂️ Tasted today directly against the already legendary Les Epheméres No. 1. The No. 6 can make up some ground (80 instead of 78 points), but can't hold a candle to the No. 1, remains somehow one-dimensional."

Top review from Jonathan Massard:

"This is yet another release of the 1997 Caroni and it has just gotten better with even more aging. A nice Trinidad and Tobago blend that shines beside the other 1997 releases. You may want to add a drop or two of water if you think it bites too much or you just leave it to rest for 15-30 minutes. A wonderful nose transferring into a full bodied complex rum with a long warm finish. "

"Blindtaste Foursquare A. OB Isonomy, 17y, 2005, 58% B. OB 2007, 12y, 59% C. Kill Devil 2007, 14y, 63,4% Foursquare used to be my favourite distillery, but after a while I felt that most of the releases started to taste the same, too safe, and I lost much of my passion for the distillery. In front of me I had 3 glasses. I named them A, B and C. RUM C C: Dark gold. N: Coconuts and something else, pineapple and vinegar perhaps. More complex than RUM A and B. 20min. More settled with lots of coconuts. I also get burnt sugar and pineapple. Best nose of the three. Nice balance. M: Burnt peaches, pineapples, and lemons. Less sweet than A and B, but as with the nose, more balanced and mature. F: Long and fruity. My Guess: OB 2007 RUM C: Kill Devil 2007. I was wrong."

"Sehr tolle Gesamtkombo. Ich schmecke nebst den Früchten Safran raus, was mir persönlich sehr gut gefällt. Verbrannte Heidelbeeren.

"A really good Jamaican style rum with a real punch. I'd say most may need a few drops of water to make it a lot more digestible. Rest for 15-20 minutes for all flavours to be released. Has more bang for your buck than the 92 proof version."

"Super funky Stoff hier aus st. Lucia.

"Nice rum, but too similar to hampden the younger and the 50 euro difference is a tease to the consumer. Unfortunately lately Velier is releasing overpriced bottlings where you pay for the brand and less for the quality of the product. Personally I would never buy it taking into account that the overproof can be found at 80 euros and this at 110 and the younger at 59."

"Was long my Fiji reference - the 2009 is after 2001 so far de best vintage. Still a top rum - the IdR 2001 is only slightly better. The tropical fruits that you sometimes find has this one except for a present banana and a hint of lemon less, but he is strong on the vegetable side and the typical rubber or wetsuit-like is super integrated: dissolved in solvent biowaste. Overall, for me, Fijis are often stronger in the mouth than in the nose. Here, the nose is already expressive without the risk of confusion with Jamaica. The herbal is also quite different from an Agricole, more fermented, rotting than fresh, grassy. The resinous herbs from the finish linger for a long time."

"Very interesting and complex. Medium-long finish, but not very punchy. I have to be honest, I cannot distinguish this marked black cherry aroma, in fact I found it well balanced. On the finish lychee/cherry. I sensed fleeting notes of marzipan / pastry. If I drink without thinking too much about the bouquet then I perceive its complexity and taste it really well. A very interesting rum that needs attention."

"Another retaste and it lost a few points, but still a great rum looking at the price tag. Price to quality you get a lot for your money. Fruit and esters combined with a nice spicy and warm palate. I get a light honey note on the nose and palate as well as a hint of mint on the finish. Really nice rum."

Top review from lukasdrinkinghabits:
"From my point of view, Plantation has (once again) lacked the courage to land a sure hit. The initial situation was fantastic a 17 years tropically matured MMW of beautiful balance. I also understand the idea with the finish. It makes the rum more elegant, enhances the continental fruit basket of the nose, the spicy whiskey notes give a nice baked apple with garam masala. But then the dilution spoils almost everything. Even the nose is rather light. The play of fruit and spice works in the mouth as well, but there's a lack of depth here to bring out the flavors. Too bad."

Top review from TheRhumhoe:

"At the price tag this is a very nice rum. The nose matches the palate pretty well in the fruit and spices. I love the fresh floral notes on the nose and palate as well and the balance is pretty good. Vanilla and Nutmed is also in there and I think there is a sherry note there as well but I'm not certain about it. The finish is long and warm with nuts, spice and wood. Would have loved a higher ABV, but still a good rum."

"My first Savanna, I was directly in love. But after I tasted the 2007 Rum Nation, this one falls back a bit. Very very tasty and good Savanna, a little more alcoholic and less complex. But has something of everything, fruit, wood, spices and floral notes. Even with increasing experience still a great part"

Top review from Henry Davies:
"Rating it for what it is - a mixing basic white rum. With that lens it feels a bit underwhelming with the sub 40% ABV. That aside it does the job, the nose is super industrial with ethanol and alcohol notes but it gets better from there. The mouth is smooth with butter and caramel elements. A surprisingly light and non offensive finish"
