"I usually don't really like these sugared Spanish-style rums and I even doubt that the age statements of the Malteco rum-line can be trusted but the 'vintages' from them are very, very tasty and I like them a lot. Update: Now too thin for me, good daily sipper though."

"Though this is a costly glass it's well worth the money and you should try it at least once in your life. This bottling is released in a limited number every year so there is always a chance to taste it. A perfectly balanced and complex rum from Havana Club. "

"Un rhum de bonne facture avec des arômes très nets. Le nez est entier, comme un dessert au caramel, avec des épices. La bouche ressemble au nez, des arômes assez simples mais très agréables. Un bon rhum dans l’ensemble mais il manque des watts, de la profondeur et de la complexité."

"I think this rum will surprise most rum drinkers because its really good. Very similar in taste to the Reserva Limitada. The nose is fruity and with a lot of spices. In the back i can find wine, wood and nuts. The palate sets off very spicy but it quickly settles and then you get a lot of fruit and then some wood, honey and bourbon. A nicely balanced and full bodied rum. The finish is medium to long. Again spicy, lightly sweet and fruity with wood and pepper. "

"I got this one as a birthday present yesterday and it is the fourth year I now have. Only one missing now is the 2020 version. This master piece by Asbel Morales, Don José Navarro and Salomé Aleman (the first female Maestro del Ron Cuban!). A magnificent blend of base rums from 1970s, 1990s and 2010s and then blended with a rum that has rested in French oak barrels for 25. A truly magnificent masterpiece. "

"#4038 This one is also a sweet rum in really good balance. It come with a price tag above 1250.- euro so a hefty dent in your wallet. Sweet and fruity where especially cherry can be singled out. Roasted wood compliments the profile with some added smoke especially in the finish. This one also draws really nice curtains and in the empty glass i can pick up light chocolate and some coconut."

"Overall a quite OK rum and definitely better than the “Reserve Select Barrel”. I tasted it at the Stockholm Beer & Spirits Fair 2023. This Louisiana rum from Bayou is a molasses rum. The sugarcane has grown in the soils around the Mississippi River Delta. After fermentation it’s distilled in a copper pot still whereafter it’s aged in ex-bourbon barrels for up to 5 years using the Solera method."
