Medium to long finish and this one has a bit of herbal flavour to it. Price to quality is very good.
Overall a great very smooth rum, actually the best Madeira rum I’ve tasted so far. This rum, a 970 Brut de Fut Single Cask from Engenhos do Norte in Madeira, is distilled in 2006 and aged in a French oak barrel for 14 years before bottled in 2020 in just 279 bottles. The Engenhos Do Norte distillery is owned by the Faria family and is located Porto da Cruz. It’s maybe the most iconic distillery on the island. It’s built in 1927 and is still uses old machinery from the 19th-century.
Balanced agricole with moderate vegetal notes, focusing more on dried fruits and some earty tones. Long and colorful finish, loved that!
A Madeira rum with a rather floral, fruity nose, complemented by notes of sap, wood, cocoa, sugarcane and sweet spices. The influence of port is felt not only on the nose, but also on the palate, with notes of grapes and red fruit, followed by roasted aromas with coffee and nuts, and a floral, earthy framework that also lingers on the finish. The finish is fairly long, with warm notes of spice, bitter licorice, chocolate and fruit (red and dried fruit). A pleasant rum, typical of its milieu, which lacks a little of the depth to make it a complete and better rum.
