Habitation Velier Privateer White 2020
Most love the juicy pear, soft alcohol and unique eau‑de‑vie character. Critics find it too linear, short in the finish and overpriced. Consensus: a quirky, solid but niche white rum.
Fans of fruity eau‑de‑vie, agricole‑adjacent profiles and high‑proof white rums who want something pear‑driven for neat sipping or creative cocktails.

How does this rum taste?
Pear eau‑de‑vie rum twist
If you enjoy clairin or fruity unaged agricoles, this is a fun side-step: big pear and schnapps character at 62%, more about quirky personality than depth.
Beginners, value hunters and drinkers who expect classic vanilla‑caramel sweetness or lots of complexity in a sipper.
Not bad but too expensive and not complex enough

23.5.2024 juicy fruit in the aroma, almost too mature taste is soft, sweet, it doesn't seem to be 62%, very good, better than slivovitz ;-)
A surprisingly mild unaged rum. Overall, pear clearly dominates here, albeit much more pleasantly than in most clear Williams pears.
Not bad but too expensive and not complex enough
this is really good! Surprisingly fruity! The pear didn’t immediately come though on the nose for me so I was happily surprised after taking my first sip. The reviews I read of this said it was very agricole like but I personally don’t get the grassy, fresh pressed sugar cane juice on this that I get from other unaged agricoles I’ve tried. This is kind of a one trick pony but it’s very unique! Lots of fruity pear, very little ethanol burn. I know almost everything is a limited release these days but this is a limited release that literally can not be remade. This was created with Maggie Campbell before her departure from Privateer to Mount Gay. So another one like this coming from Privateer with her influence is very unlikely. Definitely try/grab this if you are interested in trying a Rum that’s super fruit forward, a bit different than other unaged pot stills, and can find it for 43 bucks.
