How does this rum taste?
- Fruity rich aroma
- Unique pear notes
- Complex agricole character
The "White" rum from Privateer Rum Distillery, bottled by Habitation Velier, offers a bold 62% ABV profile distilled from molasses in 2020. Limited to just 600 bottles, its aroma is dominated by fruity, pear, and sugarcane notes. Taste-wise, it delivers prominent fruity flavors with hints of cinnamon, pear, and green pepper, embodying an intriguing agricole-esque character. While praised for its fruitiness and unique pear notes, some find it linear, suitable more for mixology purposes. Collectors might appreciate its rarity, having been crafted under Maggie Campbell's tenure prior to her move to Mount Gay. Reviews describe it as a distinctive, limited release that compares interestingly to unaged Clairin. Search "RumX" for expert reviews and purchase options on this unique release.

To Privateer Rum Distillery
"I'm being nice giving this one 70, because I have an unopened bottle at home. I now know this is one I gave to experiment with in mixers. The nose is light and fruity with cane and cinnamon. The palate is sweet and fruity with spices and a light vegetal note. The finish is medium to long and fruity with spices and vegetal notes."
"A surprisingly mild unaged rum. Overall, pear clearly dominates here, albeit much more pleasantly than in most clear Williams pears."
"This is molasses based, but reeks of sugarcane juice. Both smell and taste are very agricole-esque. Light fruitiness with green grapes and a bit of pear. Immediately followed by salty brine, cinnamon, green olives and bell peppers. Quite vegetal and eclectic. With my eyes closed I would have guessed an unaged Clairin. It’s interesting and probably has its place in mixology, but the current price for this is ridiculous."
"Disappointing on the nose, pleasant on the palate but too linear"
