Old Man Rum Project One leans heavily into coconut and vanilla—some liken it to a coconut liqueur, with "Kokos gefolgt von Vanille" on the nose (@Rumbaer) and a "very sweet rum in my mind" (@Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰). Sweet, creamy notes run through both aroma and taste, backed by hints of tropical fruits, cream toffee, and the occasional marzipan or banana. The sweetness and coconut divide tasters: for some, "mega lecker, ein Erlebnis" (@Don Grisu); for others, it's "übertrieben, künstlich und...viel zu süß" (@Boletus). Complexity is low, but the rum's mellow profile keeps it a friendly sipper.

"The smell is delicious, not complex, but very pleasing. Coconut, pineapple, a little banana and lots of toffee and syrup. Spices, wood rather weak. The smell continues in the mouth with lots of sweet and fruity notes. Nevertheless, a warm feeling. Could be a sweetened mix of low-Ester Jamaica, Barbados and Dom Rep...!"
"Sehr komplexer, aber auch künstlich daherkommender Rum. Von Anfang bis Ende viel Kokosnuss und Süße.in der Nase etwas Sahnetoffee, im Gaumen dafür Karamell, Vanille und etwas Banane. Im Vergleich zu ähnlichen Abfüllungen sticht dieser jedoch etwas positiv heraus."
"Für mich ist das gerade so noch trinkbar, auch wenn ich Kokosnuss und Vanille eigentlich sehr gerne mag. Hier wirkt das allerdings irgendwie übertrieben, künstlich und ist insgesamt mir viel zu süß. Im Mund kommt außerdem eine meines Erachtens nicht gerade passende Note von Koriandergrün ins Spiel, als wäre auch etwas Agricole reingemischt. Freunde von gezuckerten Rums könnte hieran zwar durchaus Gefallen finden, ich bekomme davon höchstens Zahnschmerzen."
