- Rich tropical and woody notes
- Warm, lengthy finish
The "Sample X The Clarendon Distillery" is a 14-year-old rum from Jamaica, distilled in 2006 and bottled by The Rum Mercenary & Kintra. Crafted at Clarendon Distillery with a pot still, this limited edition variant (only 283 bottles) is a testament to traditional Jamaican rum making. Bottled at a robust 63.2% ABV, it radiates an intriguing nose of glue, funky esters, and tropical fruits. On the palate, users report peppery and woody notes, finishing dry and nutty. The rum is praised for its complex profile but critiqued for its harsh alcohol integration and pronounced bitter and woody aftertaste. Despite mixed reviews, it showcases the classic Clarendon character enjoyed by enthusiasts of bold Jamaican rums.

"Overall more on the harsh side. Typical notes of herbs and some fruits."
"Quite rough on the palate."
"Pretty good rum and a nice surprise. Wood and fruit from nose to finish with some added spiciness. The funk and ester is very present and nice. There is a hint of nuts, licorice and menthol in the back. I love the warm finish it has."
"Typical Clarendon blend of moderate esters and a hoppy, bitter spiciness - this one is esp. very much on the menthol and herbal side in the mouth. In addition, strong roasted aromas that also float around happily in the bottle. I would classify the pith more with the EMB than MMW. If it Jamaica but no high-ester rum should be, this is currently the everyday bottle in the cupboard. Alcohol integration could be a little better, but is also still quite young. Beautiful rum!"
