The Wild Series Rum Trinidad No. 14, distilled in 2009 from molasses at T.D.L. in Trinidad, offers a robust and complex profile. Aged 12 years and bottled at a potent 64.7% ABV, this cask-strength rum presents a blend of woody, flowery aromas with hints of raisin, mint, and toffee. Tangy tropical fruit flavors dominate the palate, underlined by notes of barrel, leather, and vanilla, delivering an intense yet balanced experience. While some users find it a tad strong, its minty, herbal undertones and rich smoky notes garner high praise, marking it as a noteworthy addition to any rum aficionado's collection. Nose: intense with herbs and smokey notes. Rather closed-up on the first go. Palate: Very intense with herbs, wood and some dirty notes. Not quite on par with the early 2000s, but very nice profile nonetheless.
Vierte Verkostung im direkten Vergleich mit RA 2002 und RDL Wild Series No42: die anderen beiden sind deutlich intensiver deshalb Abwertung auf 86 Dritte Verkostung aus der fast leeren Flasche: intensive Cassis-Noten noch stärker als beim Private Garden No 1 (RX13297). Ich bleibe bei meiner hohen Wertung, dieser Rum ist eine Wucht! Zweite Verkostung: unglaubliche Ähnlichkeit zum RA Trinidad 2002! Die Nase ist sehr ähnlich zu Foursquare mit Vanille und kandierten Früchten und zusätzlichen Noten wie Lakritze, Minze und ganz entfernt Blüten und Jod. Im Mund überwiegen zuerst die Karamelltöne mit einer intensiven Süße, die werden aber schnell von Holz und Tanninen überlagert. Der Rum ist sehr komplex und "fett" und bietet auch eine leicht "dreckige" Seite. Im Abgang finden sich die Aromen wieder und bilden ein schönes Wechselspiel Dominierend sind die Fasseinflüsse, Süße und die "dreckigen" Noten.
On the nose I have vanilla, dried fruit blackberry and chocolate...some mint. On the palate blackberries and chocolate... spicy and some herbs come through... Alcohol could be a little better integrated. Quite ok, but doesn't knock me off my feet. Edit: after 45min in the glass it gets much better...😀
