T.D.L Kill Devil Trinidad Fernandes 1999
Highly praised single cask TDL with dense roasted, smoky and woody notes, good complexity and a long finish. Especially liked by fans of darker, whisky‑leaning Trinidad profiles.
Fans of dry, cask-strength TDLs or whisky drinkers who enjoy smoky, roasted oak, tar, coffee and tobacco notes in a complex, slow-sipping Trinidad rum.

How does this rum taste?
Dark, smoky Trinidad powerhouse
If you enjoy darker, whisky‑leaning TDLs, this is a great bottle: lots of roasted oak, tar and coffee at full strength, which really rewards a bit of water and patience.
Beginners, those sensitive to 61.5% ABV, or drinkers looking for soft, sweet, fruity TDLs with more roundness and less dry, smoky barrel influence.

Independent Fernandes. I don't like licorice, but here it's done really well. Charred barrel or slight overlay to the actually shallow rum. But it fits here. Thanks Michael for the leftover bottle. I like it.
Nose: Roasted, dark notes are very dominat. Significantly different from the TBRC Fernandes. Palate: same again. Dark and roasted notes, some sweetness. Reminds me nothing of TDL but rather of a South/Middle American Spanish style rum. Again: very different compared to the TBCR.
In itself a good TDL with well-integrated alcohol, but if there wasn't a part of the cask maturation at least in the Scotch whisky cask, I'll eat a broom... Unfortunately, that gives me a lot of deductions...
