How does this rum taste?
What stands out most to reviewers of Rhum J.M's "Terroir Volcanique" is its approachable and complex character, blending notes of dried fruit, prunes, and distinctive oak with grassy agricole undertones. Many praise its balance between wood, spice, and fresh cane, with some likening its subtlety to bourbon or whisky. Enjoyed both neat and in cocktails like Ti' Punch or Cuba Libre, it's highly valued for easy sipping and great price-performance. Its versatility and crowd-pleasing style make it a rewarding choice whether you're new to agricole or expanding your collection.

Bought this bottle from Wine Palace in Spain and have emptied in Nerja at Costa del Sol. It’s a blend of rum aged for at least 3 years in American oak barrels toasted in two different levels. The nose is sweet, fruity, spicy, woody and floral with scents of honey, prunes, vanilla, oak and leather. At the palate it’s elegant, round, vegetal, fruity, spicy and woody with flavors of grass, passion fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and oak. The finish is medium long, woody and spicy with flavors of leather, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Rancid taste...
Here the typical agricole aroma already stands out. Only strong for me so that I don't mind it on the contrary. Very nice perfume. Flavour-wise, it's a fruity and again typical agricole. In the finish the agricole flavour leads with nuts. Again, it's only 3 years old like the N.Grove I had a while ago, but it's a completely different rum. I must be in an agricole mood, but I can't help it. This sat nicely with me too. If it was over 50%, it could be a blast. Edit: rounding up slightly, a very good piece
Sample no.13 of the 24 days of rum calendar 2022. Fruity, oak barrels and agricole on the nose. Maybe some sweet fruit like apple maybe? Palate is fruity and vegetal, dry and tastes faint of white wine. Agricole is an aquired taste, so far I’ve not fallen for it but this one tastes better than others I’ve tried.
