How does this rum taste?
Reviewers are consistently impressed by the depth and complexity of this limited Neisson release, often praising its layers of dark chocolate, leather, and tropical fruit, balanced by subtle wood and caramelized notes. Sipped neat, it delivers both the classic Martinique profile and a unique intensity—orange, mango, and pepper—making it stand out even among seasoned Neisson bottlings. Its rarity and distinctive character make it a memorable addition for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 46,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
This 59% pink bus has a nice neisson pep.
Oh what a great leather whip on the nose with hot dark chocolate on the face. Super creamy in the mouth. A few fruits in the dark chocolate. The complex finish adds some charred wood and cigar.
This rum has a lovely copper color, marked by its 9 years of aging. It smells good, with a powerful aroma. You're struck by the presence of blood orange. It's tangy and you can feel the watts, but in a very well-integrated way. A background of burnt wood lurks behind, but it's delicate. Sun-drenched cane juice is also present. The whole comes together very well, but I wasn't too worried: Neissons always have a seductive nose. It's often the palate that's a little too standardized for my taste, too classic, without relief. Here, it's very different. It reaches a peak I've never tasted before in a Martinique rum. The attack is frank, without excess, but invigorating, with an explosive bouquet of exotic fruits. There's mango, but also citrus. That juicy blood orange is still there, with a background of dark chocolate. There's a deeply Martinique finish with that slightly spicy pepper. On the second palate, surprisingly animal notes of grilled bacon fill the palate and linger on the tongue. It's so good! This is exactly what I'm looking for in a rum: surprise, exoticism, and here we're touching on excellence! For the moment, this is the best Martinique rum I've ever tasted.
