DDL Plantation Guyana 2008 (Red Pineau Charentes Cask)
Most enjoy the molasses, coffee and chocolate depth plus the Pineau wine touch. Critics find it too alcoholic for 47% and a bit sweet. Overall seen as a solid, quirky Demerara cask finish.
Curious explorers who like molasses-heavy Demerara profiles, coffee and dark chocolate notes, and want to try a slightly funky red wine cask twist without extreme ABV.

How does this rum taste?
Quirky, woody Demerara with wine twist
If you enjoy darker Demeraras like El Dorado but want more punch and a wine-cask layer, this fits. Just be ready for some alcohol bite and sweetness.
Those sensitive to alcohol burn, drinkers who dislike noticeable sweetness, or purists who prefer undosed Demeraras without wine finishes.

The nose starts off alcoholic but after resting for 15 minutes it changes to a nice smoky nose with honeysuckle, varnish and molasses/bourbon. The palate is nice and warm with a charred smoky start going into dried fruit, caramel and a bit of spices. The finish is long, medium dry and warm with pepper and a tad off smoke.
A strong aroma of molasses, coffee, dark chocolate, some wood and fruit. The taste is also full of chocolate, malt, molasses and coffee, spicy with roasted aromas.
Very interesting. I like a hint of whisky in that.
