How does this rum taste?
The Single Barrel from Rhum J.M, distilled in 1999 and aged for 21 years in Martinique, offers a complex profile. This limited release of 400 bottles is crafted from sugarcane juice and aged on site, resulting in notable woody and roasted aromas. Users note its balanced woodiness complemented by fruity undertones, nutmeg, and subtle spice. However, some drinkers find it to carry a slightly soapy or astringent note. Despite its inviting bouquet of dried apricots, cinnamon, and tobacco, opinions vary on its palate presence, with some describing it as thin. Overall, this rum remains a solid choice for both agricultural rum enthusiasts and those seeking a well-aged spirit from the iconic Rhum J.M distillery.

RumX Advent Calendar, Day 21. A full, silky nose, with herbal candy, tropical fruit, star fruit, and yellow fruit, quince. The attack on the palate is a little diluted, but immediately the aromas rise and the fruit invades the palate. The herbal sweetness is a little less pronounced, but the vegetal and even menthol notes are more pronounced than on the nose. The finish is long, tasty and fruity, with a pleasant candy-like sweetness.
