The "Panama" was produced in Panama at the Don José distillery. It was selected and bottled by the independent bottler Isla del Ron. It was distilled in 2002 from Molasses with a Column Still and then aged for 18 years. The rum is bottled at cask strength and has an ABV of 57,2%. An sich hat dieser Rum mit seinem Dreigestirn aus karamelliger Grundsüße, Trockenfrüchten und verkohlten Fassaromen inklusive subtilem Holzrauch eine ziemlich gefällige Charakteristik. Allerdings bietet er darüberhinaus nicht sonderlich viel und auch seine leicht alkoholische Seite stört mich ein klein wenig.
Alcohol could be better integrated after 18y. Overall, a little too smoky for me but not bad.
So macht spanischer Stil richtig Spass. Nicht nur Karamell und Co.. ordentlich kräutrige Noten sowie geröstete Nüsse. Auch schön im Geschmack die leichten Boten nach Weihrauch die im Abgang erhalten bleiben. Echt ein Empfehlung Wert.
