How does this rum taste?
The Martinique 2005 by Isla del Ron, distilled at Distillerie du Simon, offers a distinctive experience with its 15-year aging. This limited release of only 42 bottles delivers a bold tasting profile at 49.8% ABV. Users highlight its unique combination of vegetal, chili, and spicy aromas, recalling a chili cheeseburger. Its taste resonates with spicy and umami notes, surprising with fruity undertones atypical of Agricole rums. The rum’s woodiness and subtle grassy flavors merge intriguingly with a touch of saltiness, offering a complex and layered experience.

Smells and tastes savory. Chili both on the nose and on the palate. Woody, spicy, grassy. Rather little fruit. Very interesting.
Jalapeno/bacon/cheese/brioche sesame burger or Burger King chili cheese burger in liquid form. Fat!
Surprisingly fruity for an Agricole.
Very niche bottling for Distillerie Du Simon..as far as I can tell, it’s really an unusual expression for a Martinique rum..you surely get vegetal and mildly grassy notes, although these are quickly covered by chili, green pepper and woody, with a touch of underripe banana and mango. On the palate, these flavors evolve into more complex notes, like cola and smoke. Truly unexpected
