La Hechicera Fine Aged Rum <21yr 40%

"Have bought this rum mainly because of the beautiful bottle. Actually a Red Flag, if you are looking for good taste, this one has surprised me relatively positively. Due to the only 40% somewhat watered down and thin and not too complex but a nice Feierabend Sipper at a good price. Definitely a great entry rum and superior to the many dead sugared competitors.Addendum: last drop is out of the bottle. Complex? Rather less. Good sipper? Definitely. A good unsweetened representative of the Spanish style. A little more power would have done it good. A >50% version would be nice. Still, great price/performance. Overall rating 2"

"02.10.2016 - 03.10.2016 A great extended weekend with rum friends. This was a nice event and lots of space between the tables. Only problem was the level of English at some of the exhibitors. Here are the rums we tasted at the event itself, nothing truly unique but we had fun. This is the first half of the tastings. Notes Light roasted wood, vanilla, orange, light coffee, light dried fruit, faint caramel. Palate Light, light wood, light coffee, orange, light chocolate, light smoke, sweet, earthy. Finish Short to medium, light wood, light tobacco, light coffee, faint chocolate, nutts."

"Great sipper for a relaxed evening! Very beginner-friendly, nice and fruity and sweet. The cooler Zacapa!"

"Hints of cocoa, caramel, brown sugar and a little alcohol come to mind. The taste is then very chocolaty, complemented by some caramel, vanilla and leather. This remains the case in the short finish. It is an honest rum from Colombia that is suitable as an easy sipper without great expectations."

"On the nose, it's quite mild. Vanilla, wood and cocoa up front with coffee and subtle orange peel towards the end. The palate hits you with spice firstly. Like a chilli has touched your tongue but without missing a beat it moves to dark chocolate and woody notes then begins to drift into the taste of good cappuccino, with extra sugar. On the finish those cappuccino notes linger. No complaints there. The spiciness at the start of the palate loses this rum points for me and, although nice beyond that, it doesn't wow me."
