How does this rum taste?
What stands out most in reviews is the rich complexity—buyers consistently mention layers of dried fruit, wood, and spice, with a pronounced cherry and cognac touch. Many enjoy the well-integrated warmth and round texture, making it popular for slow sipping on relaxed evenings. If you appreciate rums with a long, aromatic finish and subtle nods to old sherry or cognac, this is a bottle worth exploring.

By rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Soleil de Minuit is a complex blend of 10 different rums. AOC rums from Martinique and both cane juice and molasses rum from Guadeloupe, so it’s not an Agricole. A 1710 is aged and blended at the Le Simon distillery in Martinique. The total aging is between 6 and 20 years for the 2020 bottling I review here. The final aging is made in former cognac barrels which is clearly recognizable during tasting.
Had a very nice evening out while in Rostock. Stralsund isn't that far away and the only problem was getting back to my hotel in Rostock. This is a nice rum worth every penny in my mind. This nose has dried fruit and spices to it followed by cognac, nuts and light wood. The palate is warm, complex and well balanced with fruits, spices, wood and light cognac. The finish is medium long and warm with dried fruit and light wood.
Très différents des autres a1710. Plus le côté grille et fumée qui ressort. Très bonne expérience
Fruité, équilibré, assez doux et rond, presque sucré. Bon mais trop cher pour ce que c'est, mauvais rapport qualité prix.
