How does this rum taste?
Aurum No. 4 is a distinctive rum from Guyana's Diamond distillery, bottled by Gleann Mor Spirits. Distilled in 2002 and aged for 17 years, this release showcases complex aromas of fresh and anise with citrus nuances. Tasting notes reveal a bold, salty flavor with licorice hints, warm undertones, and a varnish-like finish. Users recommend letting it rest before sipping, or adding water to enhance its character. This limited edition has only 212 bottles, making it a collectible item. Despite a high ABV of 51.8%, some find the alcohol slightly aggressive, but praise its unique taste and aroma profile, offering value for its price.

Vertical PM tasting: 89 / 95 /97 / 97 (cognac finish) / 02 / 05 / 13: Nose: Continental fruit basket is very present alongside some sweetness. Palate: nice PM markers. Some citrus-y notes and grapefruit. Nicely balanced. Feels a bit thin (watered down) though.
This one was a nice surprise. A warm fruity and fresh rum with spices and some medicinal notes. Lightly bitter and warm on the palate. Let it rest for at least 15 minutes before sipping and if you like it to open up more add a drop of water or two. Price to quality is very good.
A very good young savage!
Quite a nice PM, but I like it a little better on the nose than on the palate. There the alcohol (despite the low AbV) is quite biting and generally still a little unround. Perhaps it could have lingered a little longer. A few drops of water really help here (as described by Kevin).
