Velier Hampden Pure Single Jamaican Rum LROK 2010
Highly praised as an accessible Hampden: big tropical fruit and esters, smooth delivery and good complexity, with many enjoying it as an easy sipper despite the restrained intensity.
Fans of funky-but-friendly Jamaican rums who want clear Hampden markers—pineapple, gluey esters, tropical fruit—without cask-strength aggression, and whisky drinkers curious about ester-driven profiles.

How does this rum taste?
Accessible Hampden funk with pineapple
If you enjoy Hampden Estate 8 or other softer Jamaican funk, this is a great step up: same tropical profile, more age and complexity, but still very comfortable at 47%.
Those seeking high-ABV power, ultra-intense esters or strong value-for-money; collectors who dislike reduced-strength bottlings may feel it drinks a bit thin for the price.
Not bad but too expensive and not complex enough

Very accessible and enjoyable rum. One of my favourites from 2021
The quintessential Hampden, shtick!
Too much reduction and a watery finish. This Hampden is for the novice Jamaican. But which novice will put 125 euros in a bottle?Edit December 2022:The bottle was opened a long time ago and I found it was not a great Jamaican but a very good spirit. A bit like the Long Pond ITP 15, we are not overwhelmed by the esters and very balanced with notes of candied fruits and caramelized touches. I don't have the watery side at all and it makes you want to fold your glass. Simply put.
