Goslings Old Rum („Family Reserve“)
Most enjoy its dark chocolate, coffee and spice profile as an easy sipper; critics call it thin, slightly bitter and overpriced. Consensus: a solid, comfy, sweet-leaning aged dark rum.
Those who enjoy sweeter dark rums like standard Goslings or Demerara-style profiles and want more age, chocolate, coffee and spice without going into high ABV or funky territory.

How does this rum taste?
Cozy chocolate‑coffee Bermuda sipper
If you like classic dark, slightly sweet rums and want a more mature, chocolate‑coffee version of standard Goslings, this is an easy upgrade—but not a powerhouse or sugar‑free option.
Anyone avoiding added sugar, seeking cask-strength intensity, or preferring dry, high-ester/funky rums with big complexity for the price.

Love the normal gosling and enjoyed the family reserve.
I’m mixed on this one. The presentation is great, and the rum itself has notes of chocolate, spice, a little bit of dried fruit—all nice things, but it also has an odd chemical property (which I find in the standard goslings), giving it a bitterness and odd mouthfeel that make it a little unpleasant to sip neat.
A while since I had drunk it, but what a tasty dark rum this remains! Tones of Coffee, chocolate, sweetness of raisins and brown sugar.
Auto-translatedUnconventional, powerful, sweet, peppery rum, but harmonizes excellently as a whole. Brings new flavors with every sip and has a long, dry finish.
