By rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Forgive me, but blindfolded I would have sworn by the smell that it was a Jamaican, ester alert! On the palate, however, things clear up very quickly: no ester, but a distinctive smoky note. I still like it. Finish a little too short. Update 2022-11-30: Today an attractive balance of sweetness and smoke on the nose (2 points upgrade), but sour and hay-like on the palate (2 points downgrade). So it remains at 83 points. Solid stuff, this Clairin.
Typical Clairin Rocher with lots of salt, lots of fermented fruit and olive brine. The bourbon cask and caroni cask add a little more complexity, but overall I'm still more of a fan of the unaged Clairins... I'm not warming to it.
Interesant. Aber auch zu wenig von allem. Etwas Rauch, etwas BBQ. Nase schön tropisch fruchtig mit dieser Rauch Note. Aber dann im Geschmack und Abgang leider nicht mehr so viel wie erhofft. Schwieriges Fass und etwas sehr spezielles.
