How does this rum taste?
New Grove Savoir-Faire Ville Bague is a limited-edition rum from the Grays distillery in Mauritius, distilled in 2004 and aged for 16 years. Crafted from molasses using a column still, this rum features an ABV of 45%. Noted for its rich woody and fruity aromas, it also draws comparisons to Armagnac with its cherry and cocoa notes. Despite its evaporation tendency, it impresses with a balanced complexity of dried fruit, tannins, and herbaceous hints. Its profile appeals to those who enjoy a mix of sweet and savory, paired with exotic spices and oakiness, though some find the taste fleeting.

Cherry blossoms, cherry and Armagnac on the nose. Super delicious sweetness on the palate. In the finish complemented by herbal notes.
Pretty wood driven Mauritian rum. Armagnaccy. Good sweet and sour balance. Dried fruits. Thick. a bit of Tobacco. Not as "fresh" as younger New Grove. More complex in spiciness and "woody" flavours. Recommended if you're also into the more thicker flavoured Armagnacs/Cognacs and Brandies.
Despite the relatively low alcohol content, it surprises both on the nose and on the palate with balanced woody notes paired with Armagnac, fruity, herbal notes. Unfortunately, the notes fade very quickly.
Pleasant surprise. Beautifully woody in the positive sense. Unfortunately, a somewhat volatile fellow in terms of smell and taste. Very good PLV.
