How does this rum taste?
The Kill Devil <>H is a rare, limited release rum from Jamaica’s Hampden Distillery, selected by Hunter Laing. Distilled in 2001 from molasses using a pot still and aged for 16 years, this rum features a potent 61.2% ABV. Notable for its intense ester and tropical fruit aromas, the nose reveals layers of pineapple, glue, and banana, with a varnish hint. The palate continues with an ester-forward profile accompanied by tropical and pineapple notes, underscored by a spicy, fruity character. Some users find it slightly bitter and less spicy than expected from Hampden, while others appreciate its full-bodied and oily texture.

21.02.2020 A small private event where we borrowed the basement bar area for a private tasting and also had a go at their food. Notes. Light in colour. Nose Intense, wood, fruity, overripe, ester, polish, faint coffee. Palate Oily, wood, fruity, pineapple, varnish, anise, ester. Finish Long and warm, wood, fruity, ester, light chocolate.
A solid Hampden, more on the round and pleasing side, which is quite good for now. However, it is not necessarily what I expect from Hampden. Also, this is my first Hampden of the mark <H>. In the nose with neat esters, fruity, tropical fruits and citrus, but also alcoholic pungent, sour with solvent. A bit lacking in spice here and unfortunately the nose doesn't pick me up as much overall. In the mouth then very oily, round and sweet. Esters are not as strong as expected, spice is also somewhat lacking here. Here I lack something the intensity and that certain something
Delicious Hampden with an awesome cherry note. Not quite as aggressive in the esters, yet creamy and full-bodied
Fairly round <>H, but a little too bitter and roasty for me.
