How does this rum taste?
Rhum Rhum Vittorio Capovilla is a rare, distinctive rum crafted at Marie Galante's Bielle distillery and bottled by Velier. Distilled from sugar cane juice and aged for 10 years in a pot still, it boasts a robust 57% ABV. The aroma is heavy and complex, featuring woody and spicy notes with an elegant undertone. Its flavor profile is herbal, woody, and spicy, revealing hints of black tea and bitterness often noted by users. Ideal for collectors, this 400-bottle limited release is celebrated for its rich, mature characteristics, although some find its bitterness overpowering.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
This is something different, for me anyway! It's my first try of a rum from Bielle and it's quite different from something molasses based. Quite herbal, grassy, and a lot of spice. It's quite complex, I can taste some wood as well. It's got a slightly bitter strange side taste, not 'off' just different to what I am used to. Quite a rare rum, more for collecting these days I suspect😄
This is another very rare bottle and the content only has one flaw, the bitterness and black tea is far too dominant basically destroying what could be a truly perfect rum. A few drops of water can't smooth out the dominance.
I found this Bielle truly atypical and exceptional!
Already in the aroma for me is very dominant wood, roots and a little earthiness. On the palate there is grass, tobacco, black tea with wood in the background. Perfectly to the integrated alcohol with a more than pleasant finish. The overall finish is spoiled by an over the top bitterness.
