Overall a very affordable rum which carries distinct French notes even though it is a molasses rum. The Grand Fond Galion is distilled at the Galion factory in Martinique, bottled in mainland France and distributed under the Grand Fond Galion brand. The Galion factory is a sugar factory which still produces sugar today and all their rums is molasses based. The factory was born and created during the 1800’s by Eugène Eustache and became one of the largest sugar factories on the island with more than 2,300 ha of cane plantation. At the end of the 1800’s the factory suffered, like the entire sugar industry, but in the beginning of the 1900’s it came back and was developed by its new owner Émile Bougenot to the largest sugar factory in Martinique. The Grand Fond Galion Blanc rum is a rum mostly for supermarkets at a rather attractive price. The nose is fresh, mild, acidic, aromatic, fruity and vegetal with aromas of lime, esters, pepper, grass and some smokiness. At the palate it’s dry, metallic, smoky, spicy, vegetal and hot with flavors of esters, pepper and notes of caramel and coffee. The finish is medium long with the flavors from the palate remaining.
die Nase ist erstmal vielversprechend, aber im Geschmack dann diese modrig, süß-salzige, seifige Note die an Met erinnert ist für mich eher störend. im daiquiri geht's in Ordnung aber ist dennoch keine runde Sache. schade.
Perfect grand arome rum.
Parádni grand arome do drinků.
