How does this rum taste?
- Rich roasted and fruity profile
- Well-integrated alcohol
- Tobacco and chocolate notes
The Guyana 27, distilled at Uitvlugt and independently bottled by The Duchess, is a 27-year-aged rum from 1993. Crafted from molasses and distilled using a pot still, it demonstrates a remarkable blend of roasted and fruity notes, enhanced by honey and licorice on the nose. Its palate is dominated by tobacco, roasted and peppery flavors, with hints of chocolate and an oily texture. The 50.1% ABV cask-strength rum offers a well-integrated alcoholic presence, praised for its depth and subtle sweetness, though some find it lacking in body. With only 189 bottles available, it represents a rare glimpse into a bygone distillation era, making it both collectible and memorable.

"04.09.2022 Meeting up for a nice after event party at my hotel. Good rum and food spread over a full day. Nose Light roasted wood, fruity, faint smoke, light licorice, faint chocolate, light nutts, faint medicinal. Palate Oily, light wood, roasted, medium dry, faint smoke, dried fruit, light nutts, faint mint. Finish Medium to long, roasted wood, tannins, dried fruit, light chocolate."
"Very lovely and balanced in the nose and on the palate with overall a lot of wood but not too much, very subtle fruity and honey like sweetness. Alcohol integrated very well with peppery heat but no burn. Coffee and dark bitter chocolate, I like!"
"Well done but not my style"
"This 93 PM is not my favorite. It seems a bit thin, at the same time the alcohol is not well integrated. The taste is rather mineral, bitter and dry."
