How does this rum taste?
Père Labat Brut de colonne, hailing from Marie Galante’s Poisson distillery, is crafted from sugarcane juice using a Creole column distillation. With an ABV of 70.7%, this Agricole rum is vibrant and packed with notes of sugarcane, vegetal, and floral aromas. Tasting experiences feature intense flavors with a balance of sugarcane and spiciness, yet its high potency advises ample resting time before enjoyment. Despite its strength, the alcohol integration receives praise, although some find the finish slightly short. Its distinct profile makes it a memorable choice for those seeking robust, agriculturally rooted rums. Limited to 3500 bottles, the rarity adds allure for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Having another go at this one and I still stand by my score. A great warming Agricole that really kicks in the right doors. This rum has to rest for a while in order to settle or it will attack your nose and palate without mercy. A great Agricole with light fruits and spice to it. I like the fresh floral and grassy notes that comes at you, both the nose and palate. The ABV is very well integrated and hands a warm touch to your palate.
On the nose first still relatively fruity after raspberry yogurt, some citrus abrasion but also the longer it stands more notes of vegetable broth and yeast. Taste then almost typical braising spices such as bay leaf, juniper and allspice. Reminds me somehow of my sauerkraut 🤣 Alcohol is surprisingly well integrated but the flavor is not quite my thing 🙈 In ti punch then quite okay. The recommended drinking temperature of -15 degrees I have now not been able to test but in any case he is definitely better with cold and some melt water.
Very good price-performance ratio. Great fruity, yeasty Agricole in which the alcohol is excellently integrated!
