How does this rum taste?
- intensive fruchtige pot still Noten
- viel Honig und Vanille
- solid quality from Samai
Samai Gold from Cambodia gets folks talking about its honey, vanilla, woody, and caramel notes—fruity, sweet, and spiced, but with a noticeable alcoholic edge. Many pick up on the "intensive fruchtige pot still Noten und Honig" (@Rumpalumpa), while others mention a "bonne découverte... Cambodgienne!" (@Niko). Some find the sweetness appealing for beginners, though there are nods to a heavier sweetness and hints that it might be sweetened. The pot still character, a touch of sherry, and a light but short finish come up often.

To Samai
"Just a sample, but better than expected. I won’t hesitate if someone offers me a glass. The nose is sweet, spicy and woody with scents of vanilla and oak. At the palate it’s sweet, woody and round with flavors of honey, oak, dark chocolate and vanilla. The finish is rather short."
