“Clearly more intense than other releases from the 88 Enmore batch. Aromatically fully present with both the dark notes of old Demeraras full of dried fruit, leather, licorice and old wood, plus present spicy notes and some roasted aromas - all in great balance. Very good, one of the top representatives of the vintage.”

“Lots of licorice, dark roasted aromas and some cherry on the nose. Pleasant bitter tones, leather and an intense wood influence on the palate. A great 1988 Enmore! I'm missing a creamier mouthfeel for a 9+ rating. Those who like licorice will get their money's worth here.”

“Un Enmore dont l’âge a apporté tous ses bienfaits. On y trouve un nez très élégant et sombre sur le cuir, le chêne rôti, avec des épices marquées sur la réglisse, l’anis et la vanille. Le chocolat noir (ou le cacao) donnent avec le café un arrière-goût légèrement amer, amplifié par le thé noir, le tabac et les herbes aromatiques. Le fruité, assez lourd sur le pruneau, les fruits rouges (cerise) et le raisin, va de pair avec ce profil profond et subtil qu’on retrouve chez les vieux Enmore. Un véritable délice olfactif. L’attaque en bouche est tout aussi raffinée que laisse présager le nez. Le chêne vient se mêler aux épices (réglisse, anis, épices d’hiver, vanille, piment, poivre et cannelle) pour un spectacle gourmand et opulent qui part sur le café, le chocolat noir et les noix. Le côté herbacé, amer et fumé ne prend pas l’ascendant, car les fruits secs et le thé noir donnent ce côté presque sucré aux saveurs. L’alcool est très bien intégré. La finale est longue, chaleureuse et pleine de gourmandise. Le boisé sombre, avec les épices typiques de la maison, se transpose parfaitement avec le caramel cuit, la mélasse, le tabac, les fruits secs et les notes terreuses et herbacées. On retrouve aussi le chocolat noir et le café pour y ajouter de l’opulence. Un Enmore très avenant, sensuel et profond, qui a débuté l’une des plus belles épopées des embouteilleurs indépendants.”
