How does this rum taste?
Smoky rum–whisky crossover powerhouse
If you enjoy peated Scotch and want to see that intensity translated into rum, this bottle delivers exactly that; if you mainly want classic molasses notes, it may feel too whisky-like.
Rum newcomers, sweet-sipper fans, and anyone who dislikes smoky or whisky-dominated profiles or struggles with high ABV spirits.

8,6:On the nose, the opening impression is smoky, woody, fruity with dried fruits and citrus, very whisky like, with tobacco and leather, a bit peated. On aeration, spices arise, a molasses is dark with licorice, herbaceous, the wood charred with caramelized burnt sugar, nuts, fruit cake, toffee and coffee. New wave of fruits is out with dates, prunes and raisins. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is smoky, peated, the reason is peated whisky finish, the wood is charred with caramel, chocolate, nuts, later nougat, leather, spicy with nutmeg, a bit salty, as we taste candied salted caramel. The fruits are dried with prunes, dates and raisins. After resting the rum, we taste citrus, some bacon, the molasses is dark with licorice, black tea, tobacco. 8,5:The finish is long, dry, still smoky, peated, the burnt sugar is caramelized, from charred wood, there is some chocolate, coffee, the fruits still dried, some tar/rubber are here. Edit:21.4.25 😋
bhoar ey... so if you're into really smoky whiskies then this is already a really good transfer to rum but in my case just not. I've had hope on the nose but in the taste this is just pure islay/Speyside... clear the rum supports with sweetness and makes it quaffable but these peat notes go me just not pure sorry. for me no longer as rum drinkable and perceptible ... too bad, the base rum would have delivered well!
Auto-translatedWhiskey notes are very present. Nevertheless a nice one and a nice experiment imho.
