Ron Zacapa Centenario XO Solera (2. Edition)
Most enjoy its smooth, pastry-like sweetness and balance. Critics find it too sweet, somewhat one-dimensional and question the genuine age. Consensus: a solid, sugary dessert rum, not a purist’s choice.
Those who enjoy very sweet, smooth “dessert rums” and whisky/liqueur drinkers wanting an easy, luxurious-feeling sipper without alcohol burn.

How does Ron Zacapa Centenario XO Solera (2. Edition) taste?
Smooth dessert rum for sweet teeth
If you like Zacapa 23 but want it smoother, sweeter and a bit deeper, this will likely hit the spot—just know it drinks more like a refined dessert than a dry rum.
Purists avoiding added sugar, drinkers seeking dry or high-ester complexity, and anyone who dislikes clearly sweet, liqueur-leaning rums.

This is the Zacapa I like best. I think it’s better than both the “23” and the “Royal”. It’s more powerful and had a deeper taste. It’s also well balanced, smooth and len. Nose and palate is also sweet, fruity, spicy and woody.
Smoother in the mouth than the 23 Zacapa 👍🏻
This rum is pretty complex and very well balanced. The difference between Zacapa Solera 23 and this on is that it was matured for two more years!
On the nose, there are scents of melted chocolate, sweet wood and coating fruit. You know it's pastry/dessert from the start, but it's not too liqueur-like either. On the palate, it's smooth, soft, even very soft, no attack here, nor any sensation of alcohol present. I really get the sensation of melt, caramel, dark chocolate fudge style. It's pleasant, elegant, yes, but I'm not sure it's for me, sweetened gently, not liquorish but honeyed chocolate, I don't know what I'm dealing with, so particular is the ageing and it doesn't give the true age of this rum.
