How does this rum taste?
The Chairman's Reserve Master's Selection by The UK Rum Club is a limited edition rum from Saint Lucia’s Distillers. Crafted from molasses with a Vendome Pot Still and aged for 9 years, this rum offers a robust 59.5% ABV. Its aroma is dominated by banana and complemented by tropical fruit notes such as mango, with a strong undertone of black tea. The taste profile features rich banana, burnt sugar, and fruitcake, accented with pecan and wood. Users note its complex depth, some finding it slightly overvalued compared to others, yet acknowledging its impressive wood and fruit balance. Ideal for connoisseurs seeking a distinctive Saint Lucian rum experience.

I'm by no means a pro ...(have tasted 400+rums ) but I'm always drunk ... Poured to let it breathe and the room is filled with butterscotch and bourbon smells . Genuinely could smell it from my kettle which is about 3m away. Raisens ,caramel follow on the nosing of it , pecans, slight acetone and heavy cask . 2nd nosing banana and chocolate ( I know my brain is going nuts) I'm going in ...tatsing over about 5 minutes .. Front of tongue woody cask and the raisen note . . mid pallette rum and raisen now fills my whole mouth at a high strength .. The finish is looooonnnggg with that vendome cask wow ... Now added an ice cube (sacrilege I know) but find the ice changes the dimension of the drink Renosing changes to a sweetness of a bourbon cask , the ice has brought out the cask notes Ice kills the front pallette taste but from middle onwards takes you on a journey of a stunner of a rum caramel , toffees ,RUM in huge quantities ... Being honest on its own I struggle with more than 3 of these (I'm an overproof fanatic and most of my r drunk is over 50%) .... With ice I could sit and drink all evening ... I'm quickly hiding the bottle I'm even sucking the ice cube left in the glass Couple of drops of water and Swil next time Better than anything I have ever tasted from St Lucia
Amazing depth of flavour
12.03.2021 Happy tasting at a bygone bar. Notes Dark in colour. Nose Intense, wood, banana, plum, citrus, light earthy, light nutts, spice. Palate Warm, intense, wood, tannins, light roasted, dried fruit, plum, light nutts, faint chocolate, light spicy, light ginger. Finish Long and warm, wood, roasted, light medicinal, berries, ligh pineapple, medium spicy.
Once again a great Vendome. It is impressive how much weight and complexity is already present in the profile after 9 years of maturation. The typical markers of ester, tar, spices of all kinds and burnt sugar are there, with the dirty elements being relatively pronounced. The fruit notes are more in the background, but complement the profile well. Alcohol is perfectly integrated. Great stuff!
