Diplomático / Botucal No. 3 Pot Still Rum
Woody, roasted aromas blend with cherry, vanilla, and spice on a dry palate. RumX tasters agree it's a lighter, oak-focused Diplomatico that rewards patient sipping—an appealing, limited pick for fans of Spanish-style rums.

How does this rum taste?
- Strong oak and spice presence
- Notably low sugar for Diplomatico
- Good value for quality
Intense notes of wood and cherry hit first, balanced by vanilla, caramel, and a gently roasted profile. RumX reviewers praise its spice, coffee undertones, and the way it showcases a lighter, drier Diplomatico style without extra sweetness. Worth a sip if you enjoy oak-driven, subtly fruity Venezuelan rums.

"Pot-still Spanish, lots of tobacco, probably a good accompaniment to a cigar, low dosage, good drinking strength.Good Ron."
"It's a solid run, nice to sip, but nothing that requires attention while doing it. Most dominant is the wood influence, while all other notes are quite timid and do need effort to be found. This goes especially for the nose, where I had at first the impression of not smelling anything besides wood. It is a nice rum, nonetheless, but overall will be a bit shallow for those that seek flavorful and complex sippers. And it has not much that shows it pot still origin."
"Price to quality on this bottle is very good. Make sure to rest it for at least 15 minutes or it will come on too strong, once rested it is a very nice rum. The nose is fruity with caramel, vanilla, chocolate and light wood. The palate is lightly bitter with roasted wood, fruits, spices and caramel. The finish is medium long and lightly bitter with wood, dried fruit and chocolate. Try to leave the empty glass for a few hours and then whif it again to really enjoy the spices and chocolate."
"My last Botucal was some time ago. The rum has a beautiful color in the glass. The nose is fruity, spicy, woody, as well as vanilla and caramel. The taste matches the nose with an alcoholic spiciness and sweetness. The finish is followed by spiciness and a bitter note. I was pleasantly surprised by this rum."
