How does this rum taste?
Most enjoy the sweet sherry, cherry and fruity notes and see strong value for money. Critics find it too sweet, light and a bit artificial. Consensus: easy, pleasant, not complex.
If you enjoy sweeter, sherry-finished rums like Pacto Navio, this will feel familiar—just know it’s softer, sweeter and more about easy sipping than depth.
Rum geeks chasing high complexity, anyone who dislikes added sweetness or lighter bodies, and drinkers looking for dry, cask-strength or funky pot still profiles.

By rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 270,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 50,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.

Got this 5cl sample from the RR Tasting Club. The Emperor Sherry finished Rum is a a blend of aged rum made from fresh sugar cane juice (40%) and molasses (60%). This amber colored rum is aged in American and French oak barrels for 5-12 years whereafter it’s given a 6-month finish in sherry casks before bottled. Overall it’s quite alike the Heritage version, but with Sherry hints of course. For me it’s too sweet and I characterize it as a rum mostly belonging to the Spanish style.
Unimpressive sample from rumratings. The sherry notes are the only positive mark for me…
Very sweet for a British style rum !!!
