The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
To be honest, this one is better than expected. A relatively sweet nose consisting mainly of caramel. Also spicy and woody. The palate is also sweet in the form of caramel, honey and chocolate.
A sweet rum with a strong bourbon barrel influence (apple, caramel, vanilla). There is also a hint of smoke, which you have to like. For me, this is always borderline. Drinking strength is quite good.
Privateer seems often to attend the typical US consumer, having a Rum that is appealing to those who during Bourbon and the likes. This one is solid, nothing extraordinary, with a Bourbon and citrus note. Alcohol is noticeable, but it does go well with some water. The fi ish, unfortunately, is quite short.
Alcohol could be much better integrated. Slightly caramel sweetness covers a lot, but I've had that with every Privateer bottling so far. In addition, however, comes a really intense pineapple note. Not really a bad rum, but remains just one-dimensional.
