21.02.2022 Going through some samples at home. Notes Medium to dark in colour. Nose Light roasted wood, citrus, light sweetness, dried fruit, faint caramel. Palate Light roasted wood, faint smoke, citrus, naturally sweet, fruity, faint caramel, faint chocolate. Finish Medium long, naturally sweet, faint peat, fruits, faint caramel, light wood.
3. Fläschchen im Weihnachtskalender. (Hatte ich auch schon mal als sample vor einem halben Jahr...) Islay Finish war spätestens am Gaumen klar, dachte zunächst an WP, dafür war er aber zu süß. Also Panama. Volltreffer! Nase: fruchtig-würzig, rauchig, leichte Zitronen-Frische. Pfeffer, Muskat, Vanille. Kräftig-süß-torfig mit etwas Banane. Das ist Islay. Gaumen: Torfig, röstig, süß! Dazu ein bisschen Anis, Vanille und Banane, etwas salzig. Jetzt noch eindeutiger - Islay-Fass! So auch im Abgang. Wenn man diesen Ausbau mag, ist das hier ein schöner, kompakter, runder.
Sehr komplex und saulecker! Das grandiose Mundgefühl bei der hohen Alkoholstärke ist dabei besonders beeindruckend. Ich kann mir gut vorstellen, dass dieser Rum auch ohne das Finish im rauchigen Islay-Whiskyfass schon sehr schön und überzeugend gut gewesen wäre, aber diese leichte torfige Rauchnote fügt eine weitere interessante Ebene der Aromenvielfalt hinzu.
