I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
What bothers me about this rum is the sweetness which dominates far too much. I'd say the 5+5 is better in comparison. The nose is smoky sherry with barrel to it. The palate is sweet, too sweet in my mind, a bit dry with fruit and spices. The finish is rather short with sticky sweetness and barrel topped with a bot of licorice. Too sweet for me.
Simply far too sweet for my taste and quickly gone in the end.
I don't understand this rum and the popularity of the product. Far too sweet, not particularly exciting, no good alcohol integration and then a sticky finish, which is fortunately very short. It works quite well in a drink. Not for me neat.
Revisiting after a year:Lot of sweetness, sugar added; if you don't mind sugar or if you particularly have at some point taste for something sweet, it is a nice sipping rum. Not sure if it is better than its cheaper 5+5.Taste and smell relates to cocoa, dark chocolate,caramel,vanilla,coffee- sort of sweet cappuccino with addition to more fruitines than 5+5.Higher voltage would make this rum even better cause it feels a bit diluted with almost no alcohol in the taste. Both are very similar but this one is even bit more sweet with hints of tuti fruti in the nose and also fruitier in the taste. Sweets/candies in rhe taste. It depends on what you prefer, I would rank them the same they are good if you are in the mood for something really sweet and full flavour in taste. Gotta try both with cigar.
