Long, heavy, expressive...great balance of fruit, wood influences and spice. In addition, a concise and deep, but by no means slaying sweetness. Very impressive and also a standout in the overall strong 1990 vintage.

funky and full of impact, but meantime very smooth. little influence of alcohol and tannins/astringency, very complex, reminds me of Salon du rhum 1990.

Damn that is very tasty. Very fruity, slightly acidic and sweet after marzipan and almond must with honey banana and lime cordial. Neat ester but not too much, light anise and smoke notes. The acidity remains at the end really intense hang and becomes very astringent, which gives him 2-3 points deduction for me, also the finish could be a little longer and more intense... Nevertheless, top stuff!

an insanely great matured Hampden, which has not yet got too much from the barrel. Beautiful much fermented fruit with a great wood aroma from the maturation let the drop really very coherent come alongedit: at the second tasting even better

verkostet mit meiner Hampden Referenz, dem Flens JMC 2007. Der RA ist unglaublich rund für einen C<>H. An der Nase nicht nur die vergorenen Früchte, sondern auch Gewürze wie Anis und Piment, auch etwas von Backpflaume und Karamell, und eine rauchige Fass-Note. Bei der Flens Ester-Kreissäge gibt es dagegen das volle saurer Joghurt-Gebäck-Programm 🤪 Das bleibt für mich auch weitehin das Mass der Dinge.

I think Hampden can store forever! Beautifully round.Nose: of course esters and glue without end. A pleasant vinegar note, acidity of fermented pineapple and a caramel-honey sweetness behind it. Compared to a young C<>H more caramelly, fruity and full.Palate: wow! It's got me! But so much so! Full-bodied, complex, round! Pineapple, esters, papaya, acidity, sweetness and caramel. And then a light, nice umami note. Pleasant anise and marzipan to it and the perfect HD stands there. Sure, the flavors are very similar to young and other HDs, but here it comes down to subtleties

What a board. Hampden 1990 seems to taste yes already by the name, if he has flowed through the hands of a D.M., he can probably only get better ;-)Incredibly tasty, round, complex and at the same time pleasant C<>H. If you want to describe it purely in terms of aromas, it probably sets itself apart from others only a little. The secret of this rum is the balance of flavors and their interplay. Must be tasted to understand. I am thrilled. A cross comparison with the '89 and other '90 Hampden will be exciting. Perhaps again: The king is dead, long live the king?

Hervorragender Hampden. Wird noch knapp vom 83er HGML übertroffen. Alkohol und Alter perfekt kombiniert. Einfach schön zu trinken.

Um es kurz zu machen: dieser Hampden gehört zu den absoluten Top-Rums !! Ansonsten wurde schon genug zu ihm geschrieben!

Similar profile to the 1993 version. I found this one has less glue notes and the barrel come through a bit more. In addition i found some tastes of anise. Price to value is very good. My personal result: 90>93

Nicely fruity and light, slightly acidic. Well rounded but not too much wood influence despite the age. Not a very long finish, but pleasant with anise and fruit.

Great rum with all the typical Hampden notes, but dialed back a bit. Instead the wood comes through more prominent with spicy notes as expected after the long time. Missing a bit the fruitiness that is mentioned in the other reviews, might be my sample.
