an insanely great matured Hampden, which has not yet got too much from the barrel. Beautiful much fermented fruit with a great wood aroma from the maturation let the drop really very coherent come alongedit: at the second tasting even better

Similar profile to the 1993 version. I found this one has less glue notes and the barrel come through a bit more. In addition i found some tastes of anise. Price to value is very good. My personal result: 90>93

A wonderful Hampden that shows why this distillery is so celebrated.

Noble Hampden. Dense aromas and with character. Not so brute but still very expressive. Long finish. Even better with water. Brilliant rum.

04.09.2022 Meeting up for a nice after event party at my hotel. Good rum and food spread over a full day. Nose Intense, light roasted wood, fruity, light marzipan, glue, light caramel. Palate Medium intense, oily, light roasted wood, faint smoke, fruity, light marzipan, light medicinal. Finish Very long and warm, light wood, light smoke, fruits.

This bottling has it all!!!

What a board. Hampden 1990 seems to taste yes already by the name, if he has flowed through the hands of a D.M., he can probably only get better ;-)Incredibly tasty, round, complex and at the same time pleasant C<>H. If you want to describe it purely in terms of aromas, it probably sets itself apart from others only a little. The secret of this rum is the balance of flavors and their interplay. Must be tasted to understand. I am thrilled. A cross comparison with the '89 and other '90 Hampden will be exciting. Perhaps again: The king is dead, long live the king?

I think Hampden can store forever! Beautifully round.Nose: of course esters and glue without end. A pleasant vinegar note, acidity of fermented pineapple and a caramel-honey sweetness behind it. Compared to a young C<>H more caramelly, fruity and full.Palate: wow! It's got me! But so much so! Full-bodied, complex, round! Pineapple, esters, papaya, acidity, sweetness and caramel. And then a light, nice umami note. Pleasant anise and marzipan to it and the perfect HD stands there. Sure, the flavors are very similar to young and other HDs, but here it comes down to subtleties

To make a long story short: this Hampden is one of the absolute top rums! Otherwise, enough has already been written about it!

Little 1990 C<>H cross-tasting with 2x RA, RC Ed. 5, TWJ and TRC. Honestly, quite hard for me to chose a winner out of the TRC, first RA and first RC… The first RA also is an outstanding bottling of the 1990 vintage. Side-by-side the RA comes with a little twist towards more herbal notes and little less fruity notes. Also very good staff.

Juste whaou 🤩 Ce n'était pas prévu, le père retrouve un sample caché dans un coin. Le meilleur Hampden très âgé que j'ai dégusté à ce jour. Beaucoup d'intensité, de concentration et de complexité dans 1cl. 👃 Ananas rôti, grillé, beurré. Des fruits tropicaux surmûris, sur un funk posé et lentement vieilli. De magnifiques esters vieillis 30 ans au continent qui s'expriment dans des arômes de colle de l'école primaire 🤯 J'ai aussi l'odeur caractéristique de la cire d'abeille qu'utilisait ma mère pour ses meubles en bois précieux. Retour en enfance, on est sur un Rum de très haut niveau. Des épices fraîches, poivrées et vanillées complètent ce nez en constante évolution. 😋 C'est pâtissier sur de la tarte au citron recouverte de meringue, pâte à biscuits aux amandes, petits dés de fruits tropicaux avec l'ananas en dominance. Du miel crémeux aux goûts d'amandes et de nougats 🤤 J'ai un autre versant plus esterisé sur des olives noires et vertes, des notes iodées, du poisson frais livré dans des caisses en bois sur les docks, la forte odeur de décomposition des algues sur les rochers. Une trace d'essence de moteur de vieux bateau mélangée à l'eau de mer... Un voyage. Nous sommes sur des saveurs qui font preuve d'une grande maturité et d'élégance. ⛳ Longue, évolutive, mûre. De la fumée de bois brûlé et de carcasse de crustacés aux piments rouges, guidée par de la saumure et l'âpreté des bananes vertes. I need a bottle 🥰

Rum Artesanal: Wow, alles was man an hampden oder Jamaica Rum liebt in absolut intensiver, cremiger und komplexer Art. Das ist ein absolutes Meisterwerk. Man sollte hier keinen adstringenten Jamaika-Funk erwarten... Am Gaumen sehr angenehm, könnte möchtr man ihn am liesten stundenlang konservieren. Whisky Jury: Schon an der Nase eher würziger und insgesamt komplexer. In dieser Rubrik für mich auf jeden Fall der Sieger. Am Gaumen und im Abgang hängt er seinem Kontrahenten deutlich hinterher. Wesentlich wilder und adstringenter, dafür weniger komplex. Zwei total herausragende Rums, die beide ihre Daseinsberechtigung haben und nach dem Tasting für mich nicht in direkter Konkurrenz stehen. Der RA und wahnsinnig komplex, cremig, intensiv am Gaumen ohne adstringent zu werden. Der Whisky Jury ist viel wilder, adstringenter und dennoch komplex, reicht aber lange nicht an die fruchtige Gefälligkeit des RA ran.

Wonderful Hampden, very fruity and light. Exactly to my taste! Update Feb. 2024 The new sample reflects the same feedback. I should have gone for it here. Alcohol, fruit, spice and wood are perfectly balanced here.

funky and full of impact, but meantime very smooth. little influence of alcohol and tannins/astringency, very complex, reminds me of Salon du rhum 1990.
