“A very nice expression of the Fiji 2001 vintage. The nose starts timidly, before giving way after a few minutes to an explosion of overripe exotic fruits, phenolic aromas (glue, solvents) of lime as well as spicy notes and caramel cream. We also feel a slight empyreumatic side brought by a touch of smoke. We find the funky side but fresher and more subtle than in Jamaica.The attack in mouth is catchy, at the same time covered by the acidity of the tropical fruits and the citrus fruits, and by the heat which emerges from the spicy and smoked flavours which embalm the palace. The whole is well balanced. The alcohol could be a little better integrated into the whole.The finish, quite long, finds the fruity, phenolic and smoky notes, but is more earthy and has some aromatic herbal notes to complement. Another nice bottling that shows the undeniable know-how of this region of the world, too often put aside.”
