How does this rum taste?
The Select Release White Rum by MHOBA is a distinctive South African rum crafted from sugarcane juice using pot distillation. With an ABV of 58%, it exhibits a high ester aroma profile, combining grassy, fruity, and floral notes. Tasting notes often highlight its sweet, creamy texture, with a unique mix of buttery and fruity flavors alongside vegetal and spicy undertones. Enhanced by a notable ester presence, the rum provides a rich, fruity experience often compared to tropical fruit brandies. The limited release of only 270 bottles ensures exclusivity. Users appreciate its complexity and bold taste, although some found the bitterness and short finish less appealing.

#4143 A fresh and fruity profile with a spicy warm touch on the palate. Draws nice curtains and the empty glass has some cane and licorice. Price to quality is very good.
Mir persönlich zu viel Olive, es fehlt mir etwas an fruchtigen Esternoten.
Mhoba's eccentric profile shines through here. Mushrooms, truffles, musk, sugar cane, notes of fermentation and decomposition, it's all there. Fortunately, the fruity side is there to remind us that this is a rum. The attack on the palate evolves under an atypical framework, bordered by buttery notes, thyme, floral and herbaceous notes, a hint of salt and pepper on a medicinal and fruity background. The alcohol is well integrated. The well-crafted finish brings us back to the vegetal and herbaceous framework, adorned with flowers, musk, spices (chili pepper) and leather with a certain bitterness. A fruity, honeyed veil reminds us that Mhoba is capable of finesse. A most zany profile, but very interesting to discover.
Whisky Live 2023, quick tasting session! In the Jam style, but lighter. Interesting discovery.
