How does this rum taste?
El Dorado 3 is a 3-year-old rum from Demerara Distillers Ltd in Guyana, distilled from molasses and bottled at 40% ABV. It features aromatic notes of lemon, nougat, coffee, and vanilla. The flavor profile is marked by vanilla, milk chocolate, and a hint of pepper. While not overly complex, it's appreciated for its silky texture and suitability in cocktails like Daiquiris and Mojitos. Some find it basic with a subtle sweetness, making it more suitable as a mixer than for drinking neat. El Dorado 3 is valued for its aromatic complexity, though expectations from its origin suggest room for improvement.

The nose reminds me of a lemon flavoured nougat from an old sweet shop. A bit of roasted coffee notes linger in the background. The palate takes a different direction. Milk chocolate and vanilla are most at play here. Some woody barrel notes are also present. The finish is of a medium length and is very subtle but pleasant. The chocolate taste becomes a darker cocoa and some spice joins in. Overall, I think I prefer this so some of the El Dorado range with more age. I think you'd have to go up to the 12 year old to get better from them.
I have no idea how to explain taste. But this is good in a daiquiri
