"This rum comes from 4 different distillates that vary in age from 5 to 8 years all aged in ex bourbon barrels. Most of rum is molasses based and comes from column stills, but there are also some pot still rum of which a little part is cane juice based. Overall I must say that it’s a very good rum with rather high complexity."
"Compared to the other releases from the Chairman's reserve I'd say this one is more refined and complex in the taste. A wonderful funky nose transcending into a wonderful complex palate with a spicy entry and a fruity touch to the end. The finish is long, deep and has complexity to it. This is a blend of 7.5 years John Dore, 7 years Vendome, 5.5 years Coffey RR104 and a 5 years John Dore. "
"It's amazing what you get for your money here! Complex nose with lots of fruit, esters, smoky, herbal, spicy, brown sugar, honey. There's a lot to discover. It continues just as well in the mouth. For 43%, the rum is really intense, can be drunk straight and can certainly be used in one or two cocktails. What a shame that typical beginner's rums are more expensive than this one, but not as good."
"8,1:On the nose it is spicy, fruity with tropical fruits, slightly smoky, woody and a bit roasted. The aeration reveals more fruits and some orange peel with spiciness. The cherry and almond come next, as it becomes pastry like. Very ripe exotic fruits underpin the rum through our tasting, there is also copper. Balanced and complex. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is soft, tasty, dry, like a fruit compote with spices. Like a jam with almond flavors and some coppery touch. We might think of some creamy hazelnuts also, some vanilla, also. The fruits are overripe, like they are stewed...But the banana is almost green.😉 8,2:The finish is sweet and dry with pastry, almonds, vanilla and very ripe exotic fruits, a touch of iodine and lightly smoky... An easy sipper, tasty."
